When I drove it, it was as quick as a basic modded Miata on a short course track - LOL
Having spent time in all the cars listed above -Miata.
Miata - Cheaper on consumables, better learner car, Used ones cheap.
S195 - Stock - Snap over steer, heavy, not much HP, hard on consumables.
S197 - Stock - Heavy boat that will ride on the bump stops using decent tires, hard on...
Thank you - That was a treat. I never ran Ontario, I frequented it often when I could bum a ride to watch various races. It closed down Just after I got Licensed.
I did enjoy Riverside. I had my first major off at 7a - short course. I also lost a friend there. He left this world doing what he...
Best advise so far for any beginner or intermediate driver -
Learning to drive at the limit at a much lower speed.
Cheaper consumables / tires & less body damage when you make a mistake.
I would suggest changing one thing at a time - Then test.
This will definitely save you Headaches & Time in the future. This can be checked in any larger sized parking lot. Just run some circles or figure 8s. Set your base times & handling characteristics first - Take notes. You might feel...
Hey Norm 100% correct.
I’m not Watts link guy but I have nothing against the design. Very Costly and heavy.
If I continued to develop our car, the Panhard bar would have been located as low as the bottom of the axle housing give or take ¼” at ride height. I don’t remember but I laid everything...

If you go too far- Jack up car, grab...
Adjusting your camber is exceedingly easy at the track / auto cross. The weight of the car will help in adjusting more negative camber. Just find a flat surface first. Several camber tools are available.
I use this with the digital level –...
No - Problem - My wife has run similar settings for the last 4 years on the street. Just rotate your tires every time you change the oil - Front to back - Hers around 2500 to 3000 miles between rotation and oil.
I have a 2004 toyota tacoma base model truck with 5 degrees caster and 2 degrees...
Questions -
What is your Budget?
How much time to invest?
How many track days a year?
This will decide your vehicle, resale value and what you want to upgrade too when you find this too slow.
If you put some numbers in, we can all make some suggestions.
Congratulations - Axle tube welding - In my opinion - is mandatory for any straight axle 9" in competition. We even did that in our low HP V6. 1.5 degrees is about max too for long term reliability. Great job! Looking forward to updates as your car develops.
