A whopping 210fhp(stock rating), completely stock v6:LMAO: for now at least.
I'm saving to put a v8 in. I already have 1/2 the drive train for it. I guess all I need is the engine, wiring harness, ecu and supporting exhaust. Ahh dreams, Its always nice to have dreams right? Anyways I digress.
If anybody with a 4.0L v6 wants to do this swap pm me and I can help you into contact with the fabricator.

Ever consider keeping the 4.0 and putting a turbo on it?

I think I would build the hell out of that v6 and turbo it before I did a conversion to v8. There are v6's down in the 10's that are turbo.:thumb:

A 10 sec 4.0l v6 doesn't live very long at that power level.

All depends on the quality of parts and the quality of the tuner. I've seen a few 9 second 4 cyl mustangs with high boost on them at us 131 dragway run all season with no issues and that's full out racing, not DD's. Anything is possible to do.....all it takes is money....haha

So you have an 06, V6, with a 6spd tranny? You devil! My advice - go FI

He did have a turbo and a couple of previous 4.0 engines. My advice is go with a quality system like the PH and have a reputable tuner tune it. Jump on that group buy Trill, it will be worth it.

like firestang said, been there done that. I've learned my lesson when it comes to an FI 4.0L. I don't have any reputable shops around my area also. The reason why my engines failed was half my fault and half the original installers fault. It was never installed correctly.
I've learned my lesson after 2 blown engines. I'm in school and can't afford to keep throwing 1,200 in the trash. So I need to stay away from FI while in school, but at the same time I want my 300hp back:angry1:. This is why I'm saving up to throw a v8 in so I don't have to worry about a blown engine.
@firestang
Their was nothing wrong with Jenna's kit, it was strait forward on the install instructions. Its the fucking shop DTP that were too stubborn and didn't want to call Jenna for help because she's a women.:angry1:(I like this smile lol)

I forgot about your past FI experience. Another choice may be to keep this as your reliable DD and find another toy to play with. That how the SSP Fox ended up in my driveway.

I have thought about saving up for a lightning. hmmmm I would love to get one one day. But it seems to me that it would be cheaper to just stick a v8 in my car and from other peoples experiences that should not be too hard.
I must say hopup that I'm in love with your fox. It must be a blast to drive.

I think there is only 2 or 3 people that have ever done it.. Very impressive adapter plate created by a collective member Gaylon, the guy's knowledge is amazing on cars.

what six gear ratio & final drive do you have, and how does the V6 handle cruising in 6th?

6th gear ratio is .63. Keep in mind I still have the stock 3.31 gearing. I managed a constant 28mpg driving on I-95 @ 75mph. At 75mph I was at 1900rpm:hi: in 6th gear.
I still need to get 4.10 gears so that the gear ratios will be closer to stock. It bogs in 1st gear like a bitch.
SlideWRX
03-09-2009, 02:44 PM
hehe, if I draft a semi while going 65mph I can get 28 mpg downhill. I want a taller fifth to get better mileage.

maybe more money than dropping in a 8.8 with 4.10 or swaping gears in the 7.5 but has anybody checked into if you could run a gear vendors underdrive? would give ya 12 speeds could split shift like a 2 speed in a truck that way keep the high overdrive and still get the take off in 1st
how much was the tranny and whered you pull it out from?

I just put the TR6060 in my GT. I love it. So far it shifts great although I've only had it for about 250 miles. I got the whole kit from D&D performance but there are people who have bought the trans on Ebay pretty cheap then pieced together the rest.

Hey if you do switch up to a v8 you going 4.6 or 5.4? You could sell your adapter plate and have that money to put towards the 8 swap :)

from what I've read about it, its not worth it. Also, I do plan on selling it whenever I swap to a v8. I'll probably swap over to a v8 after I blow this engine:evillaugh:

why not get a 5.4 4V from a NAVi, an drop it in, or even a 5.4 2V or 3V, that would be nice.

The intake manifold would be too much of a pain. I want keep the weight down and build my future v8 all N/a to 400whp.

Just troll around mustang forums and call your local junk yards to find a GT trans. I got my 6spd for $1,100 because of the 2nd gear problem.

yea, include price of rebuild (unless diy ), and synchro assays are 400$ EACH...
so, 1100 used, labor + 500... 2500ish.. may as well get brand new.

At the time I could not afford a brand new one. The problem has however been fixed now...
