  • Steve back in 2013 you posted a question regarding Block Coolant Drain. I was wondering how removing the block plug where the optional block heater worked out for you. I posted a question under 2011 Mustang GT 5.0 Tech titled Coolant Drain. I removed the radiator cap and opened the drain on the radiator and 1 gallon rushed out but that was it. The coolant system holds 13 quarts. The service manual notes you can only drain about 80% of the coolant with the engine in the vehicle. So I was expecting to get 10.4 quarts but I only got 4 quarts out. When you opened the block drain plug did you get anything close to an additional 6.4 quarts out? Provided that would provide an efficient drain I would install an adapter plug and add a T style radiator drain with a hose spout to assist future coolant changes. Is there a drain plug on both sides of the block? Can I reach it from above or below? Any pictures would be greatly appreciated. Thks Bob
