Just finished rebuilding my deck a few weeks ago. Here are some before & after pics. Looking forward to the low maintenance.

Hoping this used mower was a better buy than getting a new box store model.

Probably is. When I was doing research for mine I quickly discovered that for a mower doing 1 acre or less, they're all more or less the same (except the Briggs & Stratton motors). It's like comparing a Civic to a Corolla: basically the same function and amenities, both will run forever, neither will be particularly fun. Get what you like or has the best price.

I had been looking at the Husqvarna at Lowe's and the cub cadet at tractor supply. I went last weekend with a trailer and every intention to buy, but couldnt bring myself to spend $1500 on a new mower that stays outside and already has some surface rust and black parts that are faded. Found this one for $800. 21 in push mow cut to this 48in cut.

As far as the mower staying outside, I came up with a solution that only cost a couple hundred dollars and is damn near invisible. I posted it in my house thread a couple months ago. Fenced in a small area and threw a tin roof on it.

I was talking about Lowe's and Tractor supply leaving their new product outside. I know Tractor supply leaves there stuff out even during the night.

I was able to rearrange my garage again to fit the mower, SxS, golf cart, etc. I like your mower shed though.

Almost all of the AYP mowers are the same. Doesnt matter whether it says Scott's, John Deere, Troy Bilt, Craftsman, and so on. They are built all the same.

So true. The only "real" John Deere these days comes from one of their dealers. Otherwise I'm pretty well convinced they're all pretty much the same machine, they just licensed their brand name. In a retail space like that, HD/Lowe's/etc. probably requests a mower at a certain price point and specs and then they farm out everything else as a way to cash flow the development of their mowers and farm equipment that go to dealers.

Had large double trunk tulip over it taken down, rehammered all nails, re-gapped boards, powerwashed, sanded, rehammered again, stained. Not brand new but 100 times better than it was, I bought the house with it like this so with better maintenance it won't get that bad again

Idk, I think the one I was built in the early 2000's and was around $3k new. it's in good shape and not a lick of rust on the deck. It looks and functions almost the same as the John Deere my dad had when I was a kid except this Scott's is a hydrostatic drive and his was 6 or 5 speed.

Yours is made by John Deere and is model number S2348. Its pretty much the same as my Craftsman GT5000 except mine has a 26hp Kohler. Parts are all the same.

I bought it! I guess now the fun begins.
Lived in it almost 8 years as a renter and got a really good price that we were both happy with... first home but doing it strictly as an investment property. My area in Philly (Fishtown) is booming and no signs of slowing down so I'll give it a go

I've been renovating my kitchen/dining room down to the studs and rafters. Currently building a floor in my kitchen/dining room made from repurposed pallet wood.

How are you going to seal it?

Did you guys finish the planks? Or take them somewhere to get them smoothed down?

I did all the work myself. Each piece was run through a thickness planer till they were all about 3/8" thick (this was done on just one side). Then I ran the topside through at about 1/32 just to take some of the old wood off the top, leave some of that aged appearance and level things off a bit. I used a jig I made on my table saw to square off one side on each board and then was able to run the other side through normally on the table saw. Finally, I squared off the ends on my miter saw.

Not 100% positive. At the least, there will probably be about 4 coats of minwax poly clear. I may apply a mix of vinegar/steel wool to give it an aged gray tone.

Love it great idea

Thanks.
