Engine cut off - culprit is crankshaft sensor

This past weekend, I was tooling around town in my Stang when an import decided that I did not need to pass. Never one to back down from a challenge, I step in the gas to put the import in its place when all of a sudden, my engine shut off. No warning lights no check engine lights. Initially I thought it was the fuel shutoff but not.

Took it to the mechanic and they eventually figure out that it was the crankshaft sensor. The clip that held it in place must have broke off and when the sensor fell out the engine shut down.

At least it happened in town and not on my one of my 80 mile commutes.

Stang life!

Very interesting. I have just posted something very similar. I thought it may have been my fuel pump. Where is the crankshaft sensor located and other than maybe seeing it, How was it diagnosed? Thanks in advance.
