Yes it is translucent and I did not know it at the time of purchase. I plan on buying a solid black piece soon. Also plan on going either pony-less or a fog less grill altogether. Undecided

I don't like the stripes period. They're painted on so I'm stuck with them for now.

Can't wait to see what it makes with the new mods on the Tarmac dyno.

You can get black stripes over those or since you have to paint the hood and deck lid already paying the roof and bumpers won't be that big of a deal IMO

yes, I was contemplating getting a roll of black stripe to at LEAST make a better color scheme. I won't have to paint the hood and deck lid. That would defeat its purpose.

1. I enjoy the look of raw CF.

2. A GOOD paint job would add weight negating most of the modest weight savings I got in the first place. Until I at least paint it all blue in a couple of years, minus hood and trunk.

Lol, if you're worried about the weight of paint slowing you down you have bigger issues than the stripes.

As funny as it seems, paint has relative significant weight to it after clear coats and paint coats are applied.

The hood and trunk are minimal weight savings, so painting it would be counterproductive seeing as our stock ones were pretty light to begin with.

Thanks. I'll have to lower the rear maybe from a 1" to a 1.5" or 2" since removing the rear weight allowed the rear to raise noticeably.

You bought a 3600 pound car and are worried about a good paint job adding weight?

For what it is worth the manual s197 is under 3500.

It's very simple. Hood weights 31.5 lbs. CF hood came in just under 19. Painting it would add 3-5 lbs is not worth it.

I'd also reiterate that I like the naked hood. That is all the justification anyone needs :)
