Making this thread so I can document my work so when I f@&k something up I can look back and see where I went wrong. Stripping weight and slapping on a DOB system with some hand picked goodies. Motor will get built next winter long with a tremec 6 speed and drive shaft blah blah! Making it a fun weekend road course car that isn't undrivable on the street. Not stripping the a/c out this year but that's probably going to happen. Here is what the car looked like before I decided to actually keep it instead of trading up to a gt500 or 2017

Weight reduction!!

- washer fluid tank and pump removal (done)

Rear Evap canister and company deleted!

Sound system deleted. No speakers as well!

Sound deadening crap scrapped out. Much more of their to do but you get the point. Also in this picture is some of the DOB kit I'm piecing together.

Weight Reduction yet to do!

- battery relocation with lighter battery
- cut out more sound deadening
- get rid of unnessasary interior pieces
- rear seat delete (not much weight savings)
- long tube headers with no cats
- a/c delete
- lighter rims
- aluminum or carbon fiber driveshaft
- aluminum flywheel
- lightweight seats.
- BMR k-member
- BMR a- arms
- Lightweight radiator support
-......

Ok. I know a supercharger isn't ideal for a road course car. I know, but boost is a lot of fun so that's what I want. Heat is greatest enemy to a road course car so Im focusing on the cooling of the fluids and thus the IATs.

Upgrades to the DOB list of parts
-'13 GT500 HE
-'13 GT500 coolant pump
- coolant lines to match
- larger radiator (haven't decided on brand yet) also not part of the supercharger kit
- 8 rib belt system
- new motor mounts
- GT500 fuel pumps with hat
- GT500 Fuel rail ( not sure if that's an upgrade or not)

Ok well I'll update this post as I have time. Time to get back to the work day!

Very cool build man, good luck, and keep your head up even if you end up struggling here and there with the build, lord knows I always have a few hiccups, hahaha!

^ thanks I've been creeping in on a lot of threads on here over the years. So I have a pretty good base for what I'm doing. I did a wire tuck a year ago which was a lot of hours and not as much fun as I thought it would be but at the end of the day it's a hobby

are you hiding the supercharger from a wife or girlfriend by storing it in the trunk ? that is my best hiding place for parts

Stripping carpet (for now) and grinding and chipping away at the sound deadening crap.

Yeah these are some heavy bitches! Going to put lightweight seats high up on the to-do list.

Anyone have recommendations on lightweight seats? Don't have to be that comfortable since I only drive the car 200-500 miles a year.

Well this crap came in at 20.4 lbs. don't think I'll be putting it back in. Maybe some aftermarket cheap stuff that weighs less.

OPTIONAL BUT RECOMMENDED:

Frankentensioner

Prothane engine mounts

That is the list for the DOB basic kit. I chose to piece my own kit together because I wanted the lowest IATs as possible. Thus I went with larger HE and pump. Along with other goodies I will get into as I document the install. I'll throw up my modifications to the kit in another post.

Or... just this post! What I changed so far on the original kit list!

-2013 GT500 HE instead of a 07-12
-2013 GT500 intercooler pump (flows more)
- not buying the battery cable n company. Will be installing battery relocation kit to trunk
-installing 8 rib pulley and belt system. Sourcing a 8 rib supercharger pulley from DOB. All other pulleys can be found at parts stores and online
- GT500 fuel rail, injectors, and pumps.(got a real good deal)

You'll want either an aftermarket HE, or the 13+ HE, the 07-12 is tiny

Nice build. I just purchased the first piece to a DOB setup. The 5081300 drive belt. Found one on ebay for $21 shipped! I am going to take a long time to build my parts, I have a spreadsheet of the parts and prices that I want to beat.
