I've got my 2003 kawasaki z1000. Favorite bike i've had hands down. I wear a shoei replica helmet and alpine star jacket and alpine star gloves. Went down last summer and it all held up very well.

Sorry shitty pic but it's what's on my phone

2009 Buell for me ... Gear is Teknic Leather Jacket when cool ... Skorpion Mesh when hot ... Jeans for pleasure and Dockers for commute rides. Few different pairs of gloves and a HJC FS-15 Carbon Fiber Helmet.

What size is this? I am really looking at getting an 09 Buell 1125R. I have been riding about 6 years now, from a 95 CBR600F3 then to a 07 GSXR 600. What is the insurance rate like on the Buells?? Any difference between them and say the GSXRs?? Didn't know if the V-Twin and former Harley Davidson division made a difference.

This is an XB12 ... so 1203cc air-cooled V-Twin.

I have also owned a 2006 XB12 that I traded for a 2009 1125CR. The CR had the Water Cooled Rotax. The CR was Scary fast and I loved that bike except for two things ..

1) It was unbearably hot to ride ... I guess if you are always in Full Leathers with Riding boots it OK ... but in Jeans and hiking boots my Right Leg and Right Foot would literally be cooking.

2) There is a major charging system issues with the 2009/2010 1125's .. Stators burn up every 4000-6000 miles ... most of the time leaving the owner stranded.

So ... even though I loved the bike and power ... I did an even trade for the new XB12 in the picture before I started having electrical issues. Even though it is not as quick ... it rides great and has the awesome Harley V-Twin sound with the set of D&D pipes installed.

I've owned all of my bikes outrights so only pay liability. My 1125 was around $160/yr for liability ... my XB12 is $75 ...

The 1125 Buells comp/collission will definitely be higher than the Harley engine based Buells since it's 146HP vs. 103HP ... The insurance companies charge Harley rates for the Harley based Buells ... and Sport Bike rates for the 1125's ..

It won't be as quick as the 600, but pretty close! IMHO if you want a V-Twin, don't cheap out, get a 'Cati You can find some nice used newer 1098s and 1198s for a decent price

Its a work in progress, bought it used from a guy who beat it to shit so I've been working on replacing everything and will be re-doing the suspension and building the motor over the winter...

before:

(you can't really tell but all the plastics are effed to hell, headlights are full of water, no mirrors, misc. bolts for the fairings, broken stays, etc etc)

^^^ That's a great looking bike, I love the Yammie R1's and R6's... Later I'm looking at either one of those or a Ducati 848. I love the Harley but I'd like a sport bike in my future.

I have almost 30K on my Buell right now and very few issues with the bike. The low maintenance is great and very reliable. Mine is the XB9SX and I have wanted to upgrade to the 1125CR but one of my friends that puts a lot of miles on his has had many issues with the charging system so I am staying away. The XB9 modified and XB12 stock are about as fast as a 600. Not a lot of top end (130mph) but very fun with a lot of torque below 100mph. Also they get around 45Mpg.....not bad for that much fun.

Been riding since '76 & have owned primarily Hondas & Kawi's but have lusted after many Triumphs & Buells. I love practically all motorcycles- don't care if they're American, Japanese, Italian or British made. It's all good if it's on 2 wheels.

My last 4 bikes have all been Kawi's- a 95 GPZ1100, an 01 ZRX1200, an 04 ZZR1200 & back onto a ZRX again, this time a blue '03, my favorite bike of all 7 or 8 I've owned.

Thanks! I keep all my bikes & cars in mint condition. My bikes sit in my garage, covered until I'm ready to ride. They get wiped down before a ride & washed afterwards almost every time. Most folks never believe me when I tell them my ZRX is an '03.

She's a great bike, best I've owned, especially w/its current mods. She runs pretty darn strong too- 125+ rwhp, nearly 85 ft/lb's of torque too. Not bad on a 500 lb bike.

Ah, I had a 2009 Duc 848 white it only had 2500 miles. Miss it terribly but will never ride a bike in Fayetteville, NC ever again. These drivers are freaking stupid.
