Hi all,
I have problem and hope that someone can help me out.
My 2013 V6 takes a very long cranking time before it starts
My car is a standard 2013 V6 3.7 . The only mod is that it is equipped with a liquified petrol gas system.
The car always initially starts on gasoline and after about a minut or so it switches automatically to lpg.
Normally starting the engine takes about 2-3 seconds.
Lately starting takes 5-7 seconds. Cranking speed is normal. The last 3-4 weeks this happened once in a while. This week every start takes 5-7 seconds.
Only exemption: when the engine is warm it starts normally.
When the engine starts after 5-7 seconds of cranking I can smell gasoline.
My fear is that when I continue driving in this condition I could damage the kat.
Saddly this symptom is not mentioned in Ford's 2013 workshop manual.
The MIL-light is not on and there is no dtc-code stored in the cars memmory.
Here in the Netherlands there aren’t that many 2013 Mustangs. Ford dealers over here do not service Mustangs -2014 so I am hoping some one from you guys can help me out.
Thanks and best regards,

Marcel

It sounds like you're losing fuel pressure. Next time it's cold prime the pump by turning the key on then off a couple times before your start it. If it starts right up you'll have to start looking at your fuel system to see if you can find where is bleeding down.

Update:
I tried several times to prime the pump a couple of times before starting. It did not improve the starting sequence at all.

The following test though was successfull:
I usualy drive on LPG. Gasoline is only used for starting the engine.
The last few days, for testing purpose I drove the car on gasoline al the time.
And see there, the starting problem is gone. :waytogo:
Now I drive on lpg again without any starting problems.
Maybee for the future I need to drive on gasoline once in a while.

Thanks.

Regards,

Marcel
