Are all those horizontal line things on the trans tunnel part of the sound deadening?

Yes. Drivers side is gone!

Alright not much time today. Just augered some holes to shed some weight I'll cut the brace out when people and babies are not around to hear me. I'll weigh this door and compare it to the passenger side just to see what the savings are. Also these doors are damn heavy.

Edit. I'm not done cutting holes.

A door with no interior molding or electrical wires comes in at 61.2 pounds. Looking forward to seeing what they weigh after I strip em!

Coming along nicely!

Hope you are keeping a running total of your weight reduction as I am sure many are interested?

Oh I am. Not doing all this work not to have something to show for it.

Looking good so far. What weight are you hoping to get to?

0 lbs would be nice for the power to weight ratio but realistically 3,000 lbs with a half tank of fuel and me not in car is my goal down the road. Now that won't happen until I take the a/c out and a bunch of other race car mods are done which won't happen till next year but this go around I'm taking as much out as I can so I don't have to do the same job twice next year.

Not much to update. I took out the drivers air bag. A awesome 1.2 pounds gone. Oh well. I'm going to tackle getting the dash out with everything else as well. Going to take out the heater core since this car will never need a heater.

This is as it sits now.

You're my favorite kind of nutjob!!!

I may build a street/strip sleeper thing in the next few years. I will be going BONKERS with weight savings too. I love that stuff!.

Black leather seats. Driver side is powered. I'm open to reasonable offers if you want them. They are heavy bitches. I'd rather not install them but it's always about the budget even when people say budget is not an issue. Which I never said btw.

Finally!!! Got the dash out. What a pain in the ass. So this picture everything here comes in at 26.1 pounds. Not sure what I can strip. Probably just going to do drill holes in spots I can. I'll look and see if there is a aftermarket brace that I can get to make a difference. Not holding my breath!

And now for some wire management and see what else I can pull out!

Are you going to put the inner door panels back on? If not, just cut the inside metal out and leave the exterior skin. Picture below is not mine. It is from "Chris' GT Build" here in S197forum.
