I just ordered some 315/35-17 NT05Rs for my 2014 GT that's basically stock with roush mufflers and rear 17x10.5 Weld RT-S wheels.

Last season I was cutting 1.82 60fts running 8.02@89mph in the 1/8th with 265/40-18 MT ET Streets on stock 18x8 wheels. I wanted 305/45-17 ET Street S/S but they just aren't in the budget currently. I know radials aren't ideal for manual transmissions but I can get a great deal on them through my work that way I can actually put other money towards mods this year.

So I'm hoping I can dip into the 7s on these new tires with a slightly lower 60ft before I get a tune or cat deletes. Do any of you guys have experience with these on a manual trans car at the track? Thanks

If my logic is right, your footprint with a 315/35 will be shorter than a 265/40. Not to mention Nittos aren't known for being the stickest tire at the track. Getting the 305/45 ET Street SS might cost more but that tire purchase alone might get you further than having Nittos plus those other mods you are planning on getting.

what rear gear do you have?

what RPM are you launching at?

I doubt you'll get better results with a NT05R vs a MT ET SR II, I had the MT on my blown 06GT, was able to cut 1.6x 60's with them

3.31 gears and on the old ET Streets I was slipping the clutch from 4500rpms. Anything more than that would either spin or clutch protection would kill power in all of 1st gear.

A friend of mine actually had these same Welds last year with smaller 275/40-17 NT05Rs on his 2011 GT with cat and muffler deletes, and a Bama tune, and he was running 7.70s leaving from idle but his is an automatic

the 8" wheel probably hurt your footprint some, the 275/40/17 might work a bit better than the 315 due to the lighter weight, you want to run the smallest tire that will work in general.

what pressure did u run the tire and what was the burnout procedure? gear/MPH?

wonder if you just need a track tune so you can leave a bit harder and not have the nannies interfer.

those autos are killer at the track.

Uhh I had them at 32psi for the street and just dropped them from there to see what it would do but it honestly didn't change much with any psi I tried. And I couldn't do great burnouts at the track because I was getting pretty bad wheelhop and didn't want to break anything so I mostly just did 1st gear burnouts for 5 seconds or so

IMO, there's more 60' to be had then, sounds like u need to upgrade your LCAs, do a 2nd gear burnout and see 55-60 MPH, tires at 17-18 psi

Here's that same tire 1.6x 60'

Thank you for the advice. I never considered actually looking at the mph as I'm doing a burnout. I wish MT still made that tire in a 265. Now all they list is a 285 which is too wide for my stock wheels and a 245 which just seems more narrow than I'd want.

But yes I definitely plan on getting some new LCAs and relocation brackets soon to get rid of this wheel hop. But we'll see how these Nittos do Saturday.

They make a 275/45, wish they had made that when I had the 06

Just ran 8.0@87mph with a 1.81 60ft. Really trying to get this 7.90 lol I did a 2nd gear burnout around 60mph. Going to try to heat them up more this time
