Getting ready to cut the hood for the shaker hood scoop but anyone ever notice that the cutting template is about 3/8-1/2" bigger all around?

That would just make installing the bezel harder to center it evenly no?

I have never cut a hole in a hood on these cars for that purpose, but I would imagine if you check the over lap of the trim piece they give you to finish the hood, it is plenty big. Likely this is to allow for the engine to move, or slight differences in where the motor rests from car to car because of the hydraulic mounts. I wouldn't be surprised if this is mentioned somewhere in the instructions.

Mario,

Way back in like 2008 I had a Saleen Supercharger with the Optional Super-Shaker option installed.

The process of cutting the Hood is exactly the same for that as it is for the Shaker option you speak of.

Here are some pictures of that install below.
The Hole in the Hood for the Black-Trim-Panel is Larger to give room for the Engine Movement under LOAD.

I don't know if the pictures will help you but they will give you some idea of what was involved in the process I think.

I can tell you they were (Extremely) CAREFUL in cutting that hood as it was on a 2008 Bullitt Mustang and they come from Ford in Aluminum not Steel.

This.

I cut a hole in my old 07 GT/CS for a CDC shaker hood scoop, and the plastic bezel that goes around the edges where you make you cut is plenty wide enough to cover all edges. There will actually be enough "play" in the bezel before you tighten it down securely to make sure that you have it centered equally all around all sides of the Shaker scoop.

Terry thanks for the pictures. The hole for the hood is even bigger than the trim that goes on it.

The trim is already bigger than the scoop already for movement.

I just felt the template was too big all around for the trim ring.

Makes me want to cut about 1/4" inside the lines all around.

Mario,

My "Strong-Advise" is to measure-measure and re-measure {BEFORE} you do any Cutting.

Good-Luck,
Terry

Lined up perfectly! Now going to get the hood painted.

Honestly having a bare hood helped as I didn't have to be so worried about scratching the paint while measuring.
