It seems that on the top 10 list of the best things in life, that wet nosed hound usually comes in somewhere in the top 5. And throughout my life I have never known a mustang lover to see their hound any differently. Dog's like Mustangs each have their own disposition. And each reflects the taste and personality of their owners. Thanks for sharing. Dogs are truly a gift from God.

This is our current dog. Almost 18 year old Yorkie. She was a rescue by a client of mine, and when he died he asked that Roxie be given to my wife because she took care of the dog and used to bring treats and stuff. Client said he knew that my wife would take care of her.

Age is catching up to her now though. She has a collapsed trachea making it hard to breathe. She will be fine and then start coughing and can't get a breath. I don't expect that she will last much longer.

So sorry to hear about this. Pray she passes peaceful and without discomfort.

Thanks, my wife is hoping that the enlarged heart will give her a heart attack and take her in her sleep. I have a feeling though that I will end up taking her in to have her put down before that - she is coughing a choking a lot more today. My wife doesn't want to put her down, but also doesn't like to see her suffering and in pain.

Been through that twice brother. Tough choice, but its all about quality of life for the little boogers. They look to us in cases like that. My vet phrased it as "Doing the last act of kindness for him". Killed me both times, but I could not stand to think of them suffering. I hope and pray again that you can wake up to find the little tyke passed on comfortably. Thoughts with both of you and the hound.
