CD Issue

After installing a TCI ratchet shifter which required (according to directions) disconnecting the battery, my CD will no longer let me load or play CDs. Additionally, when I open the car door, and prior to turning on the ignition, I get a "CD ERROR" message. Any ideas as to why this happened? Added info: unit is a shaker 500.

I don't know if your issue is related or not with the shifter. It may be bad timing, but when my shaker did this I had to replace the whole assembly. CD's were stuck inside the unit, and it had to be butchered to regain them. I could put a CD into it, but it would spit it right back out, and wouldn't play what was already in it.
