Soon the V8 will be like the V12...only seen in exotics (and trucks).

V12s were never cookie cutter engines like V8s in Mustangs, Camaros, etc so that's apples to oranges IMO. Smaller displacement engines making the same amount of power with more fuel efficiency is what will make V8s obsolete.

The Bullitt is supposedly being released today or this week at the Detroit auto show.
Anybody see anything yet?

I have been waiting for this car for some time. I think given the current style of the Mustang it's done as well as it can be. (read not fully there with the carp face) I do applaud Ford for making it a manual only. Steve McQueen would NEVER have had an automatic. I was reading some posts over on the Mustang 6G site and there are a bunch of butt hurt guys crying because you can't have an automatic. Good thing their cars have windows, keeps their dress from blowing over their face. I don't give a shit if an automatic is quicker, has 7 speeds, 10 speeds or 15, it makes a car a four wheeled video game. It's one more way you are removed and not engaged with it. If all the car is a basic transportation, fine, not much more than an appliance at that point. We are talking about enthusiast cars here, and the more I'm part of that, the better. I'm a dinosaur, I know that, hell I don't even want tire pressure monitors.

The bigger issue for me is where $50k puts me. For that much money I can pick up a 2017 Corvette with an aluminum frame, dry sump motor, and ELSD. I do love Mustangs, but for $50k a lot of other great choices come into the picture. Need to think about this for a while.

The thing about it is, the Mustang, on the street, is everything that corvette is, even when it comes to power. The vette blows it away at the track, but also only has 2 seats.

$50K isn’t unthinkable in the world of today’s new car market. It’s terrible, don’t get me wrong. Someone like me would never be able to afford a new car. Or even one only a few years old. But that’s the market these days.

But that was in 07/08?

yes. So cars have gone up by 100% in 10 years. HOWEVER, we now regularly have 8 year loans (I paid my car off in about 50 months,) and my income has gone up by 20% so... It's ALL GOOD!!! :asslicker:

Haha yeah that was the only point I was going to make. The cost of a new 2007 mustang GT was what, around 25-28k? Ballpark figure of course. The cost of even a base 2018 is absolutely ridiculous in my opinion. I’d rather buy a used Shelby. Which would be the only other mustang I would purchase.
