We bought this s197 off of eBay back in 2009, sight unseen. It had 28k miles and was very much bone stock. We had it delivered from Arizona and picked it up in Gretna, LA.

I took these pictures [taken with an old Blackberry, sorry for the grainy pictures] when we first laid eyes on her:

On the ride home, my wife complained that it was "beeping at her" and seemed kinda sluggish. She had my '95 GT to compare it to and said it was slower than that. We decided to stop by our friend Benjy's shop on the way home to have him check it out. He determined there was an issue with the Charge Motion system and suggested we bring it back during business hours. While we were there, she expressed her interest in the black Steeda wheels mounted on a black S197 in the shop. As luck would have it, they were for sale. She bought them on the spot! Not bad for only being a 'stangbanger for 4 hours at this point!!

It kinda looked funny with the 305/45/18 Nitto drag radials outback:

We finally got it home:

We took the next few days to clean it up and become better acquainted. She decided early on that it wasn't quite loud enough for her liking and began to pour over videos on YouTube in search of "the perfect exhaust note"

We brought it back to Benjy to look into the charge motion issue and for a driveability tune. Upon removing the intake manifold, he discovered what appeared to be a rodent nest, lol. The previous occupant had chewed through the wiring harness and used it for a love seat. We elected to delete the plates for a first mod and also bought a SCT tuner for the second mod.

The result of the simple repair and the driveability tune was honestly impressive. It was honestly the fastest 'bone stock' Mustang I've ever driven at that point in time. It would easily leave my '95 GT in the dust and had me seriously considering selling it for my own s197. All of this would be put on hold with one trip through a car wash on the way home. WATER STARTED POURING INTO THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD!!!! Naturally, hind sight allows me to say it was a very clogged, drainage grommet in the wiper cowl area. It was allowing water to enterthe passenger compartment via the HVAC system. The cabin air filter was very black and horribly molded. This must've been happening for sometime as the carpet padding was screwed. I found a million pesos under the seats and carpet. Also started to piece together this cars former life.. All the dust, the undercarriage being dented in places... THIS CAR JUMPED THE RIO GRANDE AND IS AN ILLEGAL ALIEN!!!! Hence, the spanish emissions labels and pesos... We dubbed it the Jalapeno... I also installed a MAC axleback during this time. Obviously it made a big difference in sound and she reported it seemed to take off easier.

Soon after this possessed bitch started leaking fuel from the rear of the car. When I say leaking I mean LEAKING:
SU1HMDA2MzcuanBn.jpg

As it turned out, it was just a improperly installed "fuel hat retainer" and a busted o-ring. We also got rid of the drag radials for a fresh set of 285/35/18 Nitto 555's during this time:

Next up was a Hurst shifter:

This one mod made driving the cara soo much more enjoyabe!! The stock shifter was pretty sloppy and felt lazy.

She added a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT in-dash navi/dvd/cd unit but ill have to take pics of that. Lost em..

We always use Motorcraft SynBlend 5w20 and an FL820s for oil changes but feel free to recommend something better.

In March of this year we attended a Drag-n-Lap at NOLA Motorsport Park. We drove the snot out of the car and both decided we needed some future HPDE education. The car clearly is faster than either of us behind the wheel.

Darren's ride is SOOO sexy isn't it!? I'll have to get with him on that. There's a few scratches and dings on ours that need to be touched up too.

Nice build so far. car is looking good bud!

Sadly, you know you aren't gonna satify some of the folks on here until it's blown though! LOL

I'd vote for chin spoiler, rear deck lid blackout, and some tint on the windows for your next round of mods. What do you have planned?

Also, you are gonna need a new user name! haha

Thank you!! I know how the guys are here. Hell, I won't satisfy it's owner until it has a blower either LOL!!

Next round will be visual improvements:

1) tinted lights (all of them)
2) tinted windows
3) black out panel

She doesn't like chin spoilers, at all. She does like the GT500 fascia and the Steeda bumper. She wants a cowl hood also. After letting me dump thousands into my 95 GT project, she can have whatever she likes. I'm also having the front seats reupholstered (TMI sport R) and sent a new steering wheel to Redline in Poland to have a custom leather/alcantara steering wheel wrap installed.
