Dealership is trying to pull their cannot duplicate vibration/ticking bullshit

That doesnt surprise me. Probably no aftermarket headers to blame it on?

Ive had the car on the lift for the past 2 days. Seeing as how the noise is loudest at the bellhousing, we decided to pull the transmission and inspect the flywheel. Found nothing other than some hard abuse to the Mcleod clutch thats in it. Why it needs that clutch at 3k miles is a good question. Next, we pulled the driver side valve cover. Everything visible to the naked eye looks just fine. Nothing out of the oridnary other than the fact that someone else has already been in there before. We pulled the cam caps one at a time and i must say they did seem way overtightened. Cams show a bit more wear than Id expect with this mileage, but I still dont see anything that stands out. Not sure whats next. Is there any way to test the lash adjusters(lifters)?

Ford wants me to come down and reproduce the problem. This is after they didn't put me in the system correctly and could not find my car yesterday.

I don't think they'll ever admit there's a problem. Pulling the driver side header on mine. Such a pain in the ass.

I heard my noise around the number 8 cylinder; I put a stethoscope on it and could hear the ticking through the head.

Mine sounds like its coming from that area until you get underneath it. Then it sounds like the bellhousing. I'm sure it's around that area.

Well for some reason the ticking stopped when i went to the dealership. Got it documented in case it comes back. I am about to say screw this warranty crap and mod the hell out of it.

Hopefully it stays gone. I'd just say screw it and start modding away.

This transmission is an absolute PITA to put back in. Never had this much trouble with a transmission.

I keep hearing a faint ticking also... I just floor it more and can't hear it after the blower whine kicks in.

I couldn't stand looking at this car anymore after this week. Just went and traded it in. 2014 F-250 Platinum crew cab 4-wheel drive. :Violin:

Picked this thing up needing some cosmetic work, however now that it's just about done I've noticed an intermittent tick. The tick is loudest under the car or from the driver side wheel well. You can see in the video, the tick comes and goes. It will tick for 10 seconds, then quiet down for a few seconds then come back. There are times where it will tick immediately when started, and sometimes it takes a minute or two until it starts ticking again. Car runs flawlessly. No hesitations, plenty of power, good compression on all cylinders, just this annoying tick that I can't figure out.

Only mods are ARH Long tube Headers with High-flow cats and a 3" Borla catback. I've listened with a stethoscope and it sounds loudest when I put the scope on the bell-housing, but I can't even hear it from the passenger side wheel well. It DOES NOT get louder with higher RPM, in fact it disappears, or is not noticeable over the exhaust.

Car has 3,500 miles on it.

Sounds more like a Exhaust leak

Abdulla, that sound is normal. From what I understand some GT500s have that noise and others don't. Mine ticks louder than yours and I have been beating on it for 45k miles without a single hiccup. Mine is most pronounced under the driver side wheel well and has the exact same characteristics as yours. I learned to live with it.

From Ford...
2755 - 2007-2010 MUSTANG SHELBY GT500 NORMAL ENGINE NOISE
SOME 2007-2010 MUSTANG GT500 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 5.4L ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT CLATTER/TICK/TAP CHARACTERISTIC ENGINE NOISE. THE NOISE MAY BE CAUSED BY TOLERANCE STACK UP, NOT A SINGLE COMPONENT. DUE TO MANUFACTURING VARIANCES, ALL OF THESE ENGINES WILL EXHIBIT SOME LEVEL OF NOISE. AUDIBLE NOISE MAY BE MORE NOTICEABLE THROUGH THE WHEEL WELL, UNDER THE VEHICLE AND WITH AN OPEN HOOD, REFER TO WORKSHOP MANUAL (WSM) SECTION 303-00. UNDER CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS SUCH AS COLD ENGINE STARTS AND ENGINE STARTUP AFTER PROLONGED PERIODS, AUDIBLE NOISE MAY BE MORE NOTICEABLE DURING ENGINE WARM UP PERIOD. THOROUGH TESTING HAS FOUND NO DURABILITY OR PERFORMANCE LOSS FROM THIS CONDITION

An example of another GT500 with the tick...

That sounds like a Lifter for sure !
