Garage is all jazzed up the way I want it, including nice paint on all the walls. I've placed foam board insulation into the interior recesses of my metal garage door as well, but it looks like shit. I want to cover the inside of the garage door so I can carry over my paint scheme from the rest of the garage.

I need something paintable and light. I've walked Home Depot and Lowes 100 times trying to find something, but no luck. Wood paneling, even the very thin 5mm sheets, will add so much weight that I worry the garage door opener will struggle.

Anybody have a creative idea on what I can use? I really need some ideas.

I would suggest the 5mm wood paneling. Easily paintable and you can adjust your garage door springs to compensate for the weight if necessary.

Seen that, but need the equivalent of four 8x4 sheets. Way too heavy. Also no idea how to adjust the springs safely.

I'd call a garage door guy for the spring adjustment. A service call should hopefully be in the $60-$100 range.

Easy, look into the panels used for a shower surround. They are lighter than the paneling.
