I was absolutely in love with the ZRX1200 for a while. Muzzy's made a big bore kit, exhaust, cams and carb tune kit that made the 1200 a 1224 and it made pretty stout power.

Owned HD's since 2005 (touring & sportsters)...just sold a 2009 Street Glide and 2003 XL1200S for this (FXDLS/Dyna Low Rider S)...love it. If you want a HD that will chew-up the highway...this is your bike! :D

can't go wrong with a road glide , i owned a 03. slapped the king comfort seat on it along with the tour pack and in 10 short years me and the wife racked up 110k miles.
far west as wyoming + canada and everyplace in between.
only reason i gave up riding is my knees are junk and it got hard holding up the bike with both of us on it... currently thinking about one of the can-am touring things

I have owned several Harleys over 20 years. Out of all of them I have owned, the Scream Eagle RoadGlide was the best by far. I rode that touring bike many times up to 600 miles a day.

Cruisers, like the Harleys you are looking at are fine for local and around town riding, but for me the feet forward and bar position makes me feel like Rocky the flying squirrel on the highway. On longer trips of 100 miles or more that gets really tiring. Also the Softail designs have limited rear wheel travel and can be pretty brutal on anything less than smooth pavement. The shock seems to go straight up your spine. Since your feet are out in front of you, it's not very easy to lift your butt up over larger bumps.

The most comfortable bikes are probably the Sport touring (Honda ST1100/1300, Yamaha FJR, Kawasaki Concours, and several BMW RT models) and the Adventure Touring models (BMW GS, KTM Super Adventure, Yamaha Super Tenere, Suzuki V-Stroms, Triumph Tigers, etc.)

The Adventure bikes tend to have much more spacious riding positions and the longer travel suspension gives them a superior ride. A down side is they tend to have higher saddle heights which can be an issue for the inseam challenged.

I have both a Honda ST1300 and a Yamaha Super Tenere. Both are super comfortable for local and more importantly, long distance travel. I slightly prefer the Super Terene for it's greater leg room, but the Honda ST has better wind protection and with its lower seat height is easier to mount/dismount.

I've had 6 Harleys in my lifetime. Sounds like you are into long distance riding. Harleys do have all the possible comforts of a Cadillac available as options. Actually more. Prices on new bikes are ridiculous though. I've had over 40 bikes in my lifetime, currently a highly modified Sportster and 2 Yamaha Vmax's. The Sportster is like a Bicycle in town but it's not a road bike for distance.

It all depends on what flips your trigger. IMHO Harley is an Awesome and Reliable choice. With models to fit whatever you want.
