Very impressive. I wonder what the times are for the manual? The article I read didn't list them, only the auto.

EBM picked up some nice tq!

The Mustang EcoBoost also sees increased performance for 2018. Torque increases from 320 to 350 pound-feet, though horsepower remains the same at 310. That means the Mustang EcoBoost is down 25 horsepower to the V6 Camaro, but has a whopping 66 more pound-feet of torque. Just like with the GT, the Mustang EcoBoost manages its best 0-60 time with the 10-speed auto and the performance package. Equipped as such, it will get to 60 in less than 5 seconds, also just beating the Camaro V6's best claimed time of 5.1 seconds.

I don't get why they didn't bump the EB hp by 25. A 335hp 2.3EB has a nice ring to it.

Am kind of jealous, 460/420 is some serious power bump vs starting out just 5-7 years ago at 412/390. It's a big leap over the boss 302 roadrunner.

Those power jumps in the new 5.0 makes all CAI threads pointless in older 5.0s, as it just doesn't matter the 4 ponies your picking up lol

1987. 5.0 H.O. V8. 225hp. 300ft-lbs. Add 31 years. More than double the hp and another 120 ft-lbs.

Progress is good.
Heck, just in the last 9 years we are up 160hp and 100 ft-lbs.
Hard to say if we'd be seeing this without the return of GM and Chrysler in the muscle car world. This is so much better than the 90's when Ford seemed to have no interest in keeping up horsepower wise.

Ford could have easily delivered a 350ho 5.0 or even a 400hp 5.8. But Ford had the Mustang on cruise control. They were selling lots of them without investing money in them. Hell some dipshits in Ford were planning to replace the Mustang all together with what was later released as the Probe.

The 18s have 200 more HP than my 04 did lol.

Great numbers for the 18, seems like the A10 car is going to be a beast

I bet it sounds wicked running through 10 gears. I'm no auto fanboy by any means, but that definitely gets my attention.

I have to wonder if the convertor in these 10A transmissions is stalled wrong like so many autos before them.

Whats the weight difference? Everyone likes to compare/discuss power numbers but if the power to weight ratio hasn't changed that much then it's a wash.

600 pounds give or take.

C&D says 3100-3200 lbs for an '87 GT hatchback. 14 lbs for every hp at 3150lbs. For arguments sake let's say the 2018 is the same weight as the 2017. 3705lbs. The '18 will have 8.05 lbs for every hp.

Or let's turn that around and see that we have 0.071 hp/lb in the '87 vs 0.124 hp/lb in the '18.

The difference in power is enormous even if the weight is a few hundred pounds heavier.

To have equal power to weight ratios the '18 would need to have 263hp or weigh 6440lbs.

+1! I love my manual, but the older I get, and the better these autos are getting, I am definitely coming around to the thought of just two pedals instead of three.

Priced out an '18 GT Premium with the $4k Performance Pack, the leather Recaros, upgraded stereo and a couple other things, and ended up looking at a $52k sticker.
A $52k not-loaded manual-trans GT.
Fuck that !!!

They're definitely going after a more upscale buyer with this car ...

I still think it's quite the performance bargain. So glad ford is in the race. Very excited for the GT500. Can't wait to see it's performance numbers. I can't help but think if the 10 spd auto is that fast they might actually build an auto GT500... which would go against tradition. Interesting times.
