Hi there,

There is a local guy selling a Ford performance kit # M-2300-V brake kit from a 2017 Mustang GT Premium for a really good price. Is there any way to make this work on my 2005 Mustang GT or is it too much of a hassle?

Thanks,

Steve

Just know you would essentially be buying it only for the calipers. '15+ rotors won't work due to the extra hub offset, and the brake hoses won't work because they went to a standard flare on the chassis end vs. the bubble flare on the S197. So I suppose it depends on the price, I think you can use '13-14 GT500 15" rotors with those calipers, and probably brake hose for the same.

Thanks for the reply. I guess 13-14 GT500 or 11-14 GT would be the better option then for fitment for a full kit. I just wasn't sure about the 15+ model years.

The M-2300-V comes with 6 piston calipers used on the Performance Pack GTs. The people swapping S500 brakes into the earlier cars are using 4 piston calipers from base GTs. I don't know what wheel choices are available with 15" rotors and 6 piston calipers.

Well, wheel choices would be whatever works on a '13-14 GT500 I guess. Would have to be at least a 19" wheel to clear those brakes.

If you're looking at a brake upgrade the Brembos are probably the most painless way to go.

Agreed. 2007-09 GT500 hardware in the front. And aluminum ebay brackets in the rear if you want to upgrade rears at the same time.

I have the Shelby CS70 Matte Black Wheel - 20x9 so I'm thinking they should clear both options?

Couldn't tell you...have to see if you can find some backspacing figures and check them, or see if anyone else has them with the big brakes.

Just found this on the Shelby site.....

CS70 20x9 Gunmetal front/rear. Can be run as front wheel in a staggered fit or at all four corners for full rotational fit. Engineered for GT500 Brembo Caliper and most other aftermarket brake systems. Center cap will vary from photo.
