Not a huge fan of it initially. Could be that I hate yellow but so far not impressed in the looks department.

I like it. It has a proper wing now. That was one thing that turned me way off the 15-17 cars. No wing. Mustangs look like crap without one.

I'm digging the wing. Lights almost look like ford wanted to look more like a maserati. But failed.

Badly.

Word floating around is that the front styling has more to do with meeting EU safety standards than trying to look cool.

In 20 years we will all be talking about the 05-14 mustangs like people talk about the tri-5 chevys, fox bodies, 65 mustang, etc. I think 15+ will always be appreciated, but will never be viewed as timeless the way 05-14 will be.

They are saying it will have a more powerful engine, im guessing that is because it will weigh more as well. Ford doesnt care about its roots, but its future selling crappy cars.

Official: 2018 Ford Mustang Gets More Power, MagneRide, Active Exhaust, 10-Speed Auto

2018-Ford-Mustang-1-657x360.jpg

It’s official! The refreshed 2018 Ford Mustang is here and we have all the eye candy and technical details released by Ford today.

In line with the advanced information we reported last year, the 2018 Mustang has been confirmed to receive a 10-speed automatic transmission, optional MagneRide suspension, optional active exhaust, new performance packages, and several new colors.
Sadly, as we feared the 3.7-liter V6 will be dropped from the S550 Mustang lineup starting with the 2018 model year. While this may not be a big surprise with the V6 receiving fewer attention and upgrades over the course of the S550 platform life, we are still sad to see the reliable, stalwart V6 engine being retired.
The models that do remain however, get a significant increase in features and performance.
The 2018 Mustang GT gets an updated 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with both direct- and port-fuel injection which allows for an increase in the V8’s compression ratio from 11.0:1 to 12.0:1. Also exclusive to the Mustang GT will be an optional active exhaust that we’ve seen spied several times testing in Dearborn.
Both Mustang GT and EcoBoost models will receive performance packages that offer MagneRide adaptive dampers with the GT performance package also getting the new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires while the EcoBoost performance package retains the Pirelli P-Zero tires. The standard base models of each will also receive an increase in power, although full details on that have yet to be released.
As for transmission, both models will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission but the GT’s will come with twin-disc clutch and new dual mass flywheel. The much rumored 10-speed automatic transmission is also optional on both GT and EcoBoost.
Check out all the official 2018 Ford Mustang specifications, photos and info in the forums.

So is it just me or does it appear that Ford is stuck in a design rut...across the board?

A lot of car manufactures are going with this "uniform" front end design styling across their product lines. I am on the fence about it. I mean, I get it, and on some models it works, but not 100% of the time.

Case in point:

Did they widen the front fenders? Curious about the power increases.

Lastly some pics in the Car and Driver arrival make it look really nice. More high end sports car than muscle car. Some will not like that. No sense in complaining. This is what they are building.

Yeah I just saw some pics of it taken by other photographers and other angles and I am back on the fence of whether I like it or not. Its not really that it looks bad, its that the same with 15, ever since 05 we have grown to see something else when we look at a mustang.

compression bump as well, so what about an extra 20-30hp over the 15-17 now?

The headlights are actually kinda growin on me, but I hate the lower frontvalance and those scoops in front of the tires just look tacked on. Maybe a set in front of the back tires as well would look better? Reminds me of the late 80's early 90's GT with those scoops/vents. Oh wait, they're tryin to make it look like the Ford GT? Ugh...

Pics where I think it looks good. Car seems to be subject to photography angles. ie..hard to shoot it and have it look good.
