DA (mostly low temps) VS tire compounds/traction

So below about 45 degrees, my "ultra high performance" summer
tires become much less grippy.

I've used the old BFG drag rad's @ the track on my Capri and a newer
set of Nitto's on the street (same car).

I've never raced though in really cold temps. Do the new drag radials
react like summer tires, in that there is "some" temp where the lower
DA gets negated by the low temps and ultimate tire traction?

Or do you just heat the crap out of them and the lower outside
temps don't really matter (except helping power, theoretically).
This all assumes the other factors that play into DA are equal.

Funny I was playing with this
https://airdensityonline.com/free-calcs/
calc simulating Atco and got DA's of

temperature: 55 deg f
humidity: 45 %
barometer: 30 Hg
elevation: 88 ft

density altitude: -88.830 ft

temperature: 45 deg f
humidity: 45 %
barometer: 30 Hg
elevation: 88 ft

density altitude:-833.127 ft

That's a huge DA change for only 10 degrees, but again
only useful if it does not start to degrade traction.

I've run BFG D/R's, as well as MT's and M&H's. A couple times a year up here in the NW, we get to race in very cool (sub 45 degree) weather. As long as I heat 'em up properly, the car dead hooks on a cold track. I usually have to air down a bit more compared to a hot day at the track, but the launches are equally good.

Good to hear. I'm waiting until fall for just this reason.
(plus it sucks sitting in staging when temps over 80+ and
it's past 6/7 o-clock already)
