well a bit more than 3 years later and this issue has cropped up again.

I doubt I put more than 5000 miles on it since I had the issue in 2011.

At least I think I know what needs to be done.

I emailed Whipple this morning to see if they offer any sort of rebuild to swap the brass gears out, I know it can be done, hoping they have some sort of retro-fit deal they can work for me.

Who makes the Whipple TB? I know the KB TB's are made by Accufab. You may give Accufab a call too.

Like sportinawoody said I would try edlebrock. When I had an issue with my FRPP at mustang week one of the vendors had a damaged gt500 mono blade and I pulled the piece I needed from that and saw the gears had edlebrock on them. they were also plastic. I also think ACCUFAB makes the TB itself so maybe they would also be willing to sell just the gears of their sitting there.

FYI I bought that kit from my local auto parts store when my "new" to me FRPP Monoblade was acting up. That kit did nothing to correct the issue's (failsafe). I later found out the "lightly" used TB I bought from SVT Performance was a Summit Racing return that an employee was flipping... I ended up buying a new one from TASCA, problem solved... FML. It also had Edlebrock gears as well... Good luck to you.

No, I asked about a rebuild to remove them, they said send it to us and we'll take care of it.

Did the rebuilt TB take care of the issue?

Can't say yet, the TB is supposed to be delivered back to me today. I have a new actuator motor already in house. So I hope to put it back together tonight or tomorrow.

Got it all buttoned up and running. The gears are now a single plastic 'Edelbrock' piece and a brass gear set.

as I put it together, reclocked the spring, checked the action, all good. When I put the screws in and tightened down the motor assembly, the action got real stiff, I isolated to the outside (iirc) screw on the motor plate. If I didn't tighten that down all the way it was fine, as if the screw was hitting the inner gear, if it was just snug it works fine.

Took her for a quick drive and she ran well.
