I lost the love to my beloved 3V a while ago and almost sold the car entirely but deep down knew I would regret selling the car… so I kept it. The car has been sitting for a little over a year now and I have finally settled on a vision for it.

If you are interested in reading my former build of the car, you can find it here:

http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=60802

Here are pictures of the car through its different looks/phases

I’ve been through a lot with the car and it’s pretty obvious I have a solid emotional connection with it. I am pretty sure I’ll never get rid of it. Took me a while to come up with a build, and I’m still not done polishing the details, but the big picture is there.

Providing a build thread so many of you can follow along and possibly get ideas and answers towards your own S197 modifications.

Already I need to give a big thanks to Sam (19Cobra93) and Bruce (Boozshey) for answering many of my questions and stimulating my interest in becoming another member in the swap club.

Engine (not finalized): Full GT500 Engine and Transmission swap
-5.4L 4V Iron Block V8 (2007-2009) Production Engine
-FRPP 2013 GT500 8.5 Quart Oil Pan
-2013 GT500 Fan
-Stock Supercharger (for now) with smaller pulley
-Haven’t decided on CAI yet
-Possibly FRPP TB
-Stock Manifolds
-Battery Trunk Relocation
-Mufflers: Stock Bullitt/GTB axlebacks (for now)

Transmission: TR-6060 6-Speed Transmission
-MGW Short Throw Shifter
-1-PC Driveshaft
-BMR DS Safety Loop
-FRPP Clutch Line (M-7512-A)
-2010+ GT500 Clutch and Flywheel

Suspension
KONI Sport (Yellow) Struts and Shocks
FRPP “L” Springs (M-5300-L) – Not finalized
GT500 Strut Mounts (M-18183-C)
GT500 Front LCA Arms (M-3075-E)
2011+ Ford OEM Swaybar Endlinks
BMR K-Member with Stock Motor Height and Stock Steering Rack
BMR LCA + Relocation Brackets
BMR UCA and Mount
BMR Panhard Support Brace
BMR Adjustable Panhard Bar
FRPP Sway Bar Kit (M-5390-A)
FRPP Bump Stop Jounce Kit (M-5570-A)
FRPP 14” Brembo Brake Kit
7/8” Spacers at all corners with Extended Studs
-If I have time I will remove rear axle, remove surface rust and paint it black. Going to swap fluid in the rear too and change out the diff cover.

Appearance: Still working on it.
-Removing washer nozzles on the hood and filling in the holes. Removing washer fluid system all together
-Removing Sirius Sat Wart on the trunk and filling in the holes. Relocating it inside the rear window.
-Removing front antenna on fender and filling in the holes, doing a stealth antenna inside the top of the front windshield
-Removing the window tint. Doubt I’ll reinstall it.
-Stock appearance for the most part with the exception of a couple things. I’d like to keep the overall “muscle car” character of the car intact.
-Reconditioning all exterior plastics and replacing some trims that are either damaged or weathered beyond repair
-Ton of TLC with the paint, new front bumper too.

Interior: Plain/stock
-Reconditioning all the interior trim pieces
-Reconditioning leather interior
-Probably a single aeroforce interceptor gauge

Enough of that though… time for destruction!

Started with the interior. Removed Navigation head unit and will be putting a Shaker 500 back in. I don’t need anything advanced since the car isn’t a DD.

Removed push button start gimmick.

IMG_5143_zpsce161a2f.jpg

Removed hands free aftermarket system, bunch of wires I don’t need back there.

IMG_5145_zps2ee2b4e5.jpg

Guy who installed this system did a hack job putting it in, crap all over the place and not tied down. I need to repair the harness too.

After all removed.

Removing roof trim as one of them was damaged and they are both pretty weathered. Ton of dirt behind them.

Took the grille off and will be cleaning that too

Last drive of the 3V. Took off the hood and drove it to McDonalds to show off this glorious stallion.

We talked over all the memories we’ve had together and how this relationship simply wasn’t working out.

Definitely doing a horn relocation, probably where the windshield wiper fluid was.

Found some nice carnage from the body shop that repaired my car in NC. Horrible work. I will probably cut this out and weld in a piece from a junkyard car

IMG_5260_zpsa1c46085.jpg

Trans out

IMG_5264_zpsd4228681.jpg

removing refrigerant and such from the A/C before pulling the engine.

Pushed car back into it’s storage space until I locate a donor engine.

Waiting for a new owner.

In the mean time I’ll be doing smaller projects like reconditioning the stock mufflers.

A wire wheel does simple wonders

Subbed.

The stock mufflers won't hold up with a boosted engine. Been through 4 sets, last set was purchased new and lasted 3 months.

I know and I remember what you went through. I'm going to run electric cutouts most likely to alleviate the pressure when I get on it. I love how the GTB's sound on a GT500.

No need to embed and derail your thread.

Any buyers for the engine and trans yet? Any promising leads on a new powertrain? I remember you posting an eBay link that looked good but he wanted $13K or something. May still be a smoking deal at that price since absolutely everything appears to be included.

I like the Borla Touring too. Just not the tips. If I did buy another set of mufflers, it would KR mufflers hands down, I like that deep throaty sound.

I have 3 leads on selling my 3V at the moment. I'm hoping to have it sold by the end of this week. I would prefer to sell my stock engine before investing more into this project.

Found one with everything, but some busted lines that I need to get replaced and it has aftermarket LT's (unsure of brand) that I negotiated to 10.7. Best deal I've found so far. I'm waiting to hear back from another guy with one without the trans and has a Whipple 2.9 I would probably resale. Calling another lead tomorrow who said he has all the pieces and will work with me on price. Once I confirm a buy, you guys will know.

I have no ETA for completion as this is not a priority for me and I like taking my time with these awesome projects.

True, I've wanted to do this for such a long time, but always went back and forth with keeping the car.

you wouldn't consider swapping the 2.9 onto your 13?

I'd rather have the cash in my pocket right now. I plan to put a KB 3.6 on the vert later down the road and then I'll put the TVS from it on my 09.

Friends with Mikey Fitz.

What Greg said plus I do freelance computer work which pays for most of my hobbies.

Haha, definitely going to make those work.
