Hey guys, long time member. Prowled around a lot but never really posted anything. I've always found this place to be an excellent source of information.

I'm J.D.

In 2013 I bought the car I have been wanting since the promotional info came out on it, the 2008 Bullitt. Dark Highland Green. It had less than 2,000 miles on it when I purchased it for $22,000. That poor guy got nothing on his investment.

It's remained stock with the exception of some Kooks mufflers I put on it in 2014.

I'm going to be updating this thread constantly with what I have going on.

Awesome ride. Congrats. I owned one for 6 years and miss her daily. Check out the nice folks @ imboc.com.

Drive her vigorously.

Congrats. From one Bullitt owner to another - I was the same way; when the 08 Bullitt came out, I knew I wanted it. They are great cars.

I got a hold of a motor and lots of go fast parts. Much more to come on that. For now, check out the sweet powder coat work from Final Touch powder coating here in town. I got the color done to match the factory strut tower brace.

Looks great! How did the powder coating guy clean the valve covers? Lots of stories around here of sandblasting material getting trapped under the baffles and ruining motors.

That's terrible.

I know they use blasting primarily.

Here is a link to some of the work they have done. They have been in business a long time and have made an excellent name for themselves locally.

These are the majority of the go fast parts that I have acquired over the past few months. All acquired heavily discounted via facebook, racingjunk, and craigslist.

$40 SR Under drive pulleys
$400 Ford Racing Intake manifold
$500 Kooks longtube headers (new in the box
$0 Pypes off road x pipe
$190 BBK throttle body
$200 SCT X3 Tuner (new in the package)

Things are really looking great for this project!

Forget the underdrive pulleys and drop a TVS on there. Then you can buy all kinds of supporting mods.

Do you guys think that I should go through all of the trouble to paint this engine right? Or just clean the block up really well?

From what I have been reading, the rattle can paints will not work well in the long term. Pros use a single stage automotive paint.

I'm leaning towards just cleaning it up really well.

I do think I am going to go get the long tubes coated this week though.

Just wondering why you want to paint the engine, unless it's going to be some crazy amazing show car. If it's a DD or even weekend/pretty weather car, I'd save the time, trouble, and money of painting the engine and just clean her up a bit (if even that).

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing earlier today. Totally agree with you. I was just considering it since it was out. T

Seriously forget the bolt ons, get a blower. Nothing compares.

I'm sure a blower would be great!

My thought was that everything except those underdrive pulleys would only compliment a procharger. That's the route i'm leaning towards for the future.

After reading your post I went out there and inspected them and they didn't look too bad. Put them in the sink out there and rinsed the baffles, big clumps of sand came rolling out.

You're a life saver. Good call.

Holy crap.

The PCV valve is integral to the cover and may be labyrinthine. Don't be sure it's all cleaned out.

Alright guys,

Today is the day! The garage is all prepped and I am walking out there to start the engine swap.

Anyone have any tips before I get this started?
