Hey guys im throwing my old 17s 28"drag radials on my new 2012 gt just because i have no idea how fast this car is because of traction issues. Anyway i know my light will come on. I really like my old wheels and want to use them on my new car. Was wondering how 17s will look on my 2012 at stock ride height and then how will they look lowered. Maybe keep the 17 inch rears and get the same wheel in 18s for the front? Or even 19s. Or put the 17s in the front and 18s or 19s in rear? Obviously im a little unorganized so all inputs and thoughts welcome! Thanks everyone.

Most 17" will not clear the front brakes on 2011-14 GT even with the base brakes, 18" minimum (unless you're talking about proper skinny drag wheels).

cheers

what light will come on?

the rim size is alone not important on how it will fit/look, what's the tire size.

and who fucking care how it looks, if it hooks at the track, that's what matters

Guessing he doesn't have TPMS sensors in the wheels he's considering.

I was just Gunna put on my drag radials but considering putting on the front 235s while I'm there just to see how they look. But was curious if I could put the front 17s on in addition. I love the way the racestars look driving around town.

Fronts are 235 55r 17s
Rears are 275 50r 17s. M and h 28s

I need to see what this car can so with decent tires. These traction issues are driving me crazy. I know I need to do the lcas and uca too

If you have Brembo brakes, the 17s will not fit the front

The rears are fine

No brembos. That bar assuming it's the sway bar looks pretty close to stock tires as is. Hopefully the radials will clear that. But I'll take your word for it. Thanks you for your help!!

Some fellow in a 2015+ stang was visiting a neighbor...and had 235-55-17's on all 4 x corners. It was either a ecoboost or a V6..wasn't a GT.

235-55-17's will fit the front of a 2010 GT..with it's oem 12.4" rotors.
( the 2010 V6 had even smaller diam front rotors) I don't think ford went to the 13.2" front rotor on base GT cars..till aprx 2015, but I may well be wrong. If I'm correct, and oem GT front rotors were still 12.4" for 2010-2012, then 235-55-17's will fit the front.

On another note, you folks with the skinny 3.5 - 4.5" front tires..... how do the front brakes even work...at > 100 mph ? Do the skinny fronts have huge sidewalls and normal outside diameter..and what is typ front pressure ?

When they did the Coyote engine in 2011, the base GT brakes became the 13.2", 18" was the smallest wheel on those cars. The V6 PP cars, and all 2013-2014 V6, got the 05-10 GT 12.4" rotors.

On the S550, V6 and base Ecoboost have 12.5" brakes that 17" fit over. Ecoboost PP and base GT have 14" brakes that need at least 18".

To my surprise because because a few people told me (not on here) the tpms light would come on because I don't have them on the drag radials but there is no light which is nice

So I put just the rears on and it actually looks pretty good for 17s. I know the drag radial is what's basically making it look good. Maybe I'll try putting the front 17s on and see how the look next week when I get back to work. But thanks for everyone's help. Here's a pic!

Check post #9. 17" wheels won't fit over the 13.2" rotors.
