Sam Misrasi's 2005 Mustang GT

You read that right, and no, that is not a typo. Sam decided to take a wrecked 2005 Mustang GT and rebuild it with as many 2007 GT 500 oem parts as possible. What you see here is the end result, but it took a lot of time and effort by Sam to get here. Lets take a closer look and see what Sam has managed to bring back from the dead.

So here is what Sam started with. The car has transformed in a few ways over the last 4 years, but in the pictures below is what the car currently looks like. In November of 2012, Sam swapped over a complete drivetrain and interior from a 2007 GT 500, which also included a 2.9 Whipple. Sam has since upgraded to a 4.0 Whipple, where the car has put down an impressive 874rwhp and 800 ft-lbs of torque at 25 psi of boost. You can read about the 2007 GT 500 donor car and the resulting work/swap here: http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93582

But Sam not only drag races his creation, he also uses it for autocross and as a daily driver. With the 4.0 Whipple and 874 rwhp, this car should be a monster at the track with easy 9 second timeslips soon to be realized, even at altitude. The 4.0 Whipple has propelled many factory CobraJet cars into the 8s, and is certainly up to the task. But Sam is not going to stop now, future plans include headwork and suspension mods to plant the future goal of 1000 rwhp.

And how about a 10.30 @ 137 mph at the track…………with the 2.9 whipple by the way, at 4500 feet in elevation! No doubt this car will easily be in the 9s, even at 4500 feet da, when Sam returns to the track with the 4.0 whipple he has on the car now.

In Sam's Own Words:

My name is Sam Misrasi. I'm 37. I have a 10 year old daughter, Savana, and a 3 month old son, Elliott. I have been into cars and tinkering since I was just a small child. I was heavily influenced by TV shows like The Dukes of Hazard, and Night Rider. I had a big Hotwheels collection, and my favorite thing was to disassemble my Stompers and rebuild them. Then I got into RC racing, and finally real cars. I've owned over 25 Mustangs, as well as quite a few 60's Muscle cars. Many of my Mustangs have been quite modified, including a single turbo '93 Cobra (10.55@132), a twin turbo '03 Cobra (10.77@131), and finally my current supercharged 05 GT (10.30@137). I use my car for nearly everything. It gets autocrossed, daily driven and drag raced, and it does all of it reasonably well.

I've owned this '05 for exactly 4 years. I bought it wrecked on new years eve in 2009 with 38k miles on it. At that time I decided to build a GT500 clone out of it using all Ford OEM parts. After a short stint at the body shop, I got that car back and put it back together. I was almost instantly disappointed with the lack of HP, so the first performance mod was a Rotrex supercharger. I then daily drove it for two years without changing much. Then I needed more HP. I swapped to a built stroker motor and a big Procharger F1C. Several engine failures later and disappointing numbers, I swapped back to a stock 3V and Rotrex. Not long after that I was presented with a deal I couldn't pass up on a wrecked 07 GT500 that already had longtubes and a 2.9L Whipple. After picking it up, and over a two week period ending Thanksgiving weekend 2012, the GT500 powertrain/interior swap was complete. The car now resides with an upgraded Whipple 4.0L, and built motor with custom cams with a goal of 1000rwh. Future plans include fully ported heads and intake for even more HP, along with some suspension upgrades to handle it.

All the work done to my car is done entirely by me, in my garage at home. I find a lot of pride in doing it all myself. It's also a bit challenging, and sometimes overwhelming, but the reward is easily worth the work. Especially when it performs like it should on the track, and on the street. It's a feeling that's hard to beat.
