Nice touch with the hand.

Tommy thank you!

Looking good!

Thank you Sir!

Congrats again! Both on finally fixing the sending unit issue and winning another event, you certainly deserve it with all the attention to detail you put into your car.

Thanks Kyle. I was amazed at how much quicker the re and re of the pump module was the second time around.

Now if I could just get it to go 9.55 @ 146 like yours does I would be all set!

Yeah and if you could do it without blowing it up lol!

Or making not as much fun to drive and do car shows!

There is a point where one of the three looses, street, race, show, and then, it comes to two, and then one...

By then you are spending half the year with something broke and trying figure out what you want to do.

DON'T DO IT! LOL

Ford Racing Recaro # M-63660005-ME Install

Just getting underway, another slow but steady install!

Using igmur for image hosting, this is a TEST.

Started with the passenger seat by getting the seat rails ready.

Removed the 3 screws retaining the rear plastic covers with a T20 Torx screwdriver.

Next removed the locating pins that are not necessary in a S197 install with a 3/8” drill bit and Vise Grip Pliers.

Next up is to cut the front S550 mounts off of the seat rails.

I still have the pictures on my computer. Would take some time to figure out which picture goes where, but I don't believe I can edit the old posts, can I?

Cut the front mounts off with a hack saw after considering and ruling out a Dremel and a 4-1/2” DeWalt grinder with a thin metal cutting blade.

Pulled out the passenger seat from the car, the 08 wiring harness with side air bags, heated and power seats is much more complex than the Recaro manual harness.

Got a little more done today.

Decided to cut the front mounts of my 08 seats and mate them to the Recaro seats.

Well removing them was pretty easy with a 3/8” drill, 4-1/2” grinder, a chisel and hammer.

9xwau50.jpg

Started by center punch.

zLSYdP6.jpg

Drilled a little.

nUSuSii.jpg

Then carefully applied the DeWalt grinder.

sg0bbm3.jpg

A little chiselling, repeat on the other side and all done.

jSO25Vx.jpg

Well I thought all done. As it turns out I was not happy with how the mounts from the 08 seats would work. It is a little hard to explain but they are designed to be mounted forward meaning the seat rails would stick out into the foot area. While it would just be an inch and a quarter I just did not like how it looked.

On to plan “B” fabricate “L” brackets.

“L” brackets mocked up.

KldoYZz.jpg

Next I got rid of the overhang by cutting about 1-1/4” from the front of both frame rails.

Cleaned them up and sprayed the “L” brackets and front of the frames rails with a little black paint. Pics to follow when dry.

Passenger side physical install done! The money shot.

That was the easy part I wonder how many time the seat will have to come out and back in before the electronics is worked out.

I bought a 08 seat harness, plan is to modify the harness as required since it does match my body harness (power seats, heated seats). Out of the box I only recognize what three of the eight connectors are for.

Also picked up this Enhanced Body Code ODB-II Reader for use with FORScan software.

Phase one will be to use a resistor terminator on the seat side air bag. I am getting conflicting information on what the resistance should be for the terminators. But I made up a 2 ohm one.

Cut the top off with a junior hacksaw.

Cut the original resistor off and replaced it with a 2 ohm one.

Super Glued the top back on. Instructions says "Bonds Skin Instantly", hmm should have read the directions before use. At least I have a couple of free fingers still!

Phase Two will of course be to get the side air bag operational.

Have you ever tried to take a picture of a glass trophy on a very bright day? Well I have first hand experience with this and ended up with a very poor quality selfie!

Won one of two "Magnificently Modified" awards at Stampede 2017 put on jointly by Golden Horseshoe Mustang Association and Greater Toronto Area Mustang Club.

Turning to the driver’s side seat. Until I can figure out the SRS and OCS (passenger side) wiring the Air Bag Waring light will remain on the dash.

Driver Recaro with harness.

Driver Recaro harness and seat belt buckle removed. OEM 2008 Seat Belt Buckle installed and connector visible on the top right.

Next up hasten the 2008 OEM harness under the driver Recaro.

To fasten the 08 harness under the driver Recaro seat I cut of the positioning pin on the connector-to-body harness as the seat frames are different.

wcbPCsg.jpg

8VzVzxP.jpg

Then I securely cable tied the 08 harness to the seat bottom, leaving the seat position sensor connector and the seat belt buckle connector free for now. The seat position sensor and connectors are different between the 08 and 15+ and I will need to either transfer the sensor from my OEM driver seat or purchase one. Still have to test that the wiring is clear all along the seat travel on the rails.

Decided to try the 15+ seat position sensor on the Recaro seats who knows it may work. If it does fantastic as it is easier than trying to install the 08 style sensor onto the 15+ rail. Basically cut the connectors off of both harnesses and installed the 15+ connector in place of the 08 connector on the 08 harness.

15+ position sensor connector top and 08 bottom.

4TRtJpt.jpg

15+ Connector no 15+ wiring diagrams yet, so guessing:

YE-RE – sensor feed

BK – ground

1suL8TR.jpg

08 Connector reading the wiring diagram:

LG - wire is the “Driver Seat Track Sensor Feed”

BK-LB – wire goes to ground

wOzurr8.jpg

Joined the BK and BK-LB wires and the YE-RE and LG wires.

08 Connector soldered onto the 15+ harness.

FsK6GIU.jpg

Covering and tape applied.

c6GRIUJ.jpg

Seat position sensor connector installed and harness secured with cable ties.

0YwzE9b.jpg

08 seat belt receptacle harness connected and secured.

XCPUBKW.jpg

Driver seat wiring completed (except side air bag) and seat ready to install after a little black paint is applied to the rails.

EJa9NjQ.jpg

Two front rails bolts were removed with a 13mm socket and the two rear bolts with a 15mm socket. Seat and air bag harnesses were unplugged from the body harness and two men and a boy lifted the seat out. A little vacuum and it is already for the new seat.

Modified Air Bag Terminator installed.
