Just about burnt up our car Saturday, we were still in our driveway at idle when heavy smoke started coming out from under hood. I imediatly shut off ignition and released hood latch. Being in the fire service I've put out alot of car fires, I can tell you, I was very worried about what I was going to see. The smoke was coming from the AC Compressor , the clutch had locked up just another bad AC issue it sure would be nice if Ford would man up and admit they have a problem with these .I feel that if we had been at speed the Compressor clutch would have ignited before I seen smoke. How many Mustangs have burnt up because of this.

Your's is the 1st I've heard of doing that .. However, several early Mustang's caught fire due to loose grounds.

I have not heard of AC compressors causing fires on these cars. Do you have a link or anything to show that this is a common problem?
