There's always the other way; when my car got the 4.0, nobody had made the K-member lowering kits yet

You will not be happy with the gear ratios in that transmission combined with a 3.55 rear end. Seriously, you will be geared to hit 60mph in first gear which will make it very hard to modulate on the street and around parking lots. I had the T56 with the 2.97 1st gear and 3.73 gears and it was still geared too tall. And I had short tires to boot!

I have the T56 too, and with 3.73s in the back. I don't think it's too bad -- no traction in 1st or 2nd, but that's a given.

What would you suggest?

The combo (minus injectors) is good for 1100ish. But he already had the iD1000's so that will be the limiting factor. On e85 I think that's about 850. But, the base pressure could be jacked up or bigger injectors run. We'll set it up for 850ish and work all the bugs out/see how it drives then go from there.

ID1300s on e85 and 55psi base pressure here. Also got cams and ported heads. Anyone could jump in and drive, and they wouldn't know that it wasn't stock. I'm a big ID fan -- or rather a fan of how easy they seemingly are to tune.

I'm also wondering about gearing with the Magnum trans. I've been thinking of doing the swap for a while now myself.

I would only use the 2.97 first gear ratio T56XL. The 2.66 is way too tall for 1st gear. The 3650 used a 3.35 first gear.

And I would run a 4.10 rear end as well. I had a 3.73 in my Bullitt but I also had short tires. Even with over 600hp I couldn't launch with 28" tall slicks.

The 13' GT500's have a 2.66 first gear and 3.31's stock. And 27.9" tall tires. It's going to have more to do with what the car is for/ personal preference. Yes, for a drag car with 28" tall stickies I would opt for shorter gearing. Most cars never make a pass though.

I have the 2.66 first gear T56XL and I don't have any problems launching. I started with a 3.73 and was getting 1.5 60s and have gone to 4.1 now and getting high 1.4 60s. I am actually considering going to a 3.31 so I don't have to shift into 4th and would be better geared for 1/2 mile events. I use a 305/45/18 Mickey Thompson ET Street R which is a 29" tire.

That's what's going in my car in two weeks the 2.97 with 3.73 gears. I do have a 2.3 whipple and a few other things.

I kinda get the feeling that he's always been around...he just doesn't want us to know it.

Always watching.

Since I'm more in favor of 1/2 than 1/4 these days, I've been trying to figure out what to do. I have a set of 305/45-18 ET Street Rs as well, and I'm contemplating going down from 3.73 to 3.55. The car makes enough power, and will run mid 9s as-is.

2008 TR6060 here. I've had 3.55, 4.10, and 4.56 gears with a combo of tires from 27 to 29".

All of the combos are driveable. I should also say that power with the combos ranged from 320-699rwhp.

When it comes to the best setup for drag racing I couldn't tell you. I can tell you that I've made over 100 passes with the combos but I'm not a track rat and never could figure out a good launch with a Whipple and manual transmission. No matter what I did it would fall on it's face at launch or it would blow the tires off. The only way to get a semi decent launch was to slip the clutch enough that it smelled.

I can tell you that my favorite combo is at least a 28" tire with 4.10 gears. Either 275/60/15 or 305/45/18. Why? Traction and highway comfort. For me the car is always a street car first and I want it to be comfortable.

I also really liked it with 4.56 gears and a centri or n/a. However, imo 4.10 will be the best all around gear. It's also a lot easier to set up or so I'm told by my gear guy.

I can't imagine driving a 900rwhp car on the street. Insane!

I might be on the other side here, but the more I look at the spreadsheet, the more I want to go from a 3.73 to a 3.31. It should have me topping out 4th at 176mph.

Say 120 mph and I'm scared. These cars seem to want to turn into aircraft that aren't assembled very firmly.

When I was going to run my 07' in the mile Lito and I had some data too look and and decided on the same thing. 3.31's, 2.66 T56 and a 27"ish tire.

Stock the aero on S197's is scary up to 2009. Then they get a bit better.

As a former aircraft mechanic I can tell you they didn't install the controls to handle getting off the ground.......
