Hey S197forum!

Some of you might recognize us from a brief foray in creating track-focused wheels for the S-197 chassis, or from our deep roots in the performance BMW market. If we were to give ourselves a report card grade for how well we initially supported this market, we’d probably give ourselves a “D-”. Shortly after we launched a few sizes in our EC-7 design, we realized we didn’t (and couldn’t) properly support the performance Mustang community because of a lack of focus and team bandwidth.

We’re gearing up for the new year and excited to announce that our primary focus is to make sure we deliver some kickass products for the Mustang community. Before we get too ahead of ourselves, we wanted to hear from you—the community.

What makes us very unique from other companies in today’s market is our ability to work closely with the enthusiast community, ensuring customers receive functional products in an array of specifications that best suits their needs. The best way that you could help us develop these new wheels would be to take this brief Mustang-specific survey.

Take Our Mustang Survey

Here’s a sneak peek at our designs:

The mission of this thread is to re-engage with the S197 and S550 community in effort to revitalize our small, yet existing Mustang program. For those whom we have not yet had the pleasure of working with, since 2007, our focus at APEX has been to produce high-performance wheels with extreme durability and unprecedented value for the performance driving community. Combining proven Motorsport design features, vehicle specific optimizations, and advanced Flow Forming Technology, we've created wheels that have taken BMW performance driving enthusiasts by storm. As a grassroots Motorsport oriented company, comprised of a diverse group of auto enthusiasts, we understand that enthusiasts from all corners of the car community seek quality products at a affordable price point, and that these should not be mutually exclusive.

You are in the driver's seat

APEX does not view the car community through a traditional lens. Since inception, this company has worked hand in hand with enthusiasts through many channels, but much of what we have accomplished stems from our unique ability to incorporate forum members into product development. Rather than sitting around a conference table internally brainstorming a list of products that we feel are relevant to a specific community, we have made it our mission to enlist enthusiasts in the decision making process. Tell us where the market is currently missing the mark for you, and how we can employ our core competencies to fill the current pitfalls. The action of putting enthusiasts at the forefront of product development ensures that APEX delivers satisfactory products.

The bigger picture

We guarantee a different customer experience. Car nuts come in all shapes and sizes, and it is imperative to recognize that enthusiasts have different priorities, as well as short and long term goals for their machines. It is not until our product specialists have completed a needs assessment, that we can suggest a valuable and meaningful solution to our customers. Anything less would be a disservice. Manufacturing wheels that compliment the multitude of suspension, brakes, alignment settings and tires specifications instills confidence in our customer interactions.

Show us what you can do!

“All of this sounds great, but show me what you can do.” When track enthusiasts took delivery of their new BMW F8X M3/M4, they quickly realized that the standard 10” rear wheels were not cutting it, regardless of how sticky their 275 tires were. Drivers had to cautiously modulate the throttle out of mid-corner with the threat of upsetting the car, and therefore lap times were not an accurate depiction of what this new powerful platform was capable of. Correspondence poured in from the community, and after some validation from the community, a lightweight EC-7 18x11” ET44 was born. A strong 18" wheel that offered enough brake clearance for the massive OEM BBK, check. Precise and proven width and offset to support a 305 or 315 r-compound or slick without extensive modifications, check!

The following article should give you an insight to our process, and our devotion to the details.

APEX Test Fitment - Squeezing a 315 R-Compound onto a stock F8X

By the way...

To properly support this market we’re also in search of a full-time Mustang Market Brand Manager, which we’re calling our Mustang “Pioneer”. We’re offering a $1000 reward to the member who refers this job to the person we hire. See terms and conditions for details.

Check out the Job Description HERE.

They just look like BBS wheels from 15 years ago, to the Rohanna stuff you see now.
Tell us about structure, weight, sizes, and widths.
What makes your wheels better than the 2358972645897 other wheels from the other brands that look exactly the same.

I took the survey, it answers a lot of our questions. No technical data though so it's hard to know if the price point is legit.

Shows the difference between this site and mustang 6g which would ask about if it clears air ride and here where the first question is weight offset and strength

@apex, I think you're coming down too hard on yourselves with a D- grade. I have your EC-7 wheels in 18x9.5 and love them. Good value, perfect fit, no spacer, fit easily over bbk, are holding up well, and are pretty lightweight. I also think your website is very good, you provide way more and better wheel and fitment info than most other companies. My only real frustration was and is lack of availability. You didn't and still don't seem to have an 18x10 fitment, and seem to only have 2 wheels for our Mustangs, neither of which are a preferred track or big tire setup. I compromised and went with your 18x9.5 which has worked okay, but I think a lot of people would prefer the 18x10 fitment. Hopefully this thread is the start of better availability for Mustangs because you have a great product. Just get them in the store so we can buy them!

Thanks.

Appreciate the feedback. When our marketing department typed up that portion of the introduction, I think they just wanted to acknowledge the fact that our internal bandwidth was quite limited to pursue new markets back when we first launched the first 3 Mustang EC-7 SKU's. The 18x9.5" ET35 and 18x10" ET43 wheels are great SKUs, and the design does lend itself to massive brake clearance for those running the factory Brembos from the GT500 or Performance Package, as well as many aftermarket kits on the market. With the addition of an EC-7 18x11" wheel (we are working on that as we speak) for enthusiasts looking to maximize grip, I think we will have a well rounded 18" line-up for the S197 and S550 chassis.

We have already kicked off a new production run with our factory in effort to bring back the EC-7 18x10's, and a Group Buy is currently taking pre-orders in exchange for healthy discounts.

Soon after, we are planning to work on 19" fitments in either the EC-7 design, or possibly our newest SM-10 design :headbang:
