To me the S197 is pretty much influenced by the 65-66 Mustang Fastback lines. Ford didn't call it a Fastback but I do. Who agree's and why, or why not ?

I agree because of the lines and the shape of the car.

The S197s have a flat trunklid so I wouldn't call it a fastback. The Iacocca tribute is the only true fastback I've seen.

On a sidenote it's interesting to me that fastbacks from 65-70 are eaten up like a fat kid eating cake, but notchbacks/coupes are more popular with fox bodies.

Isn't this the same thing as the other thread you started?

No its not. Last thread I wanted to know what features of The S197 resembled what 65-73 Mustangs?

This one is "Do you consider the S197 a "Fastback"

Yeah but it's something to post about, LOL.

no. its not the same

So isn't the 65-66 fastback

I agree with 46 addict. I do not think the S197 is a fastback. Compare it side-by-side to an S550 fastback. The trunk is much longer on the S197. That's why I wouldn't personally consider a fastback.

Well, if the first gen had fastbacks and notchbacks, I'd think our S197s look more like a fastback than a notchback or your run of the mill "coupe". I think it looks like the 65/66 fastback. Granted, the S550 is more of a true fastback (or sportsroof) like the 69-74 models.

It's a coupe, it even lists as a coupe in parts look up. It's a coupe imitating a fastback.
