New wheels just showed up and I test fitted the 20x10 40mm up front and it clears the brembos and just made my decisions harder to make.

I'm not buying new tires so let's leave any other sizes out.

I currently have 255/40/20 on 9" wheel and it's perfect for me.

My new wheels now I can either run 8.5 or 10 up front.

255/40/20 on 8.5 will bulge? On 10 will stretch?

8.5.

I prefer a slight bulge to help protect the edge of the rim from curbs, etc. Especially the bank drive thru! Narrow as hell and the divider curbs extend way out so that when you have to turn you're almost guaranteed to hit them.

Doing it over again I would have gone with 265's on my 20x9's up front...or found an 8.5 for the 255's/

Look up your tire on Tire Rack and click on the specs tab. Then look at the recommended rim width for that size tire. Not all brands are the same.

My 255s are a little stretched but it's not bad. My 275s are just right.

Go with the 10" wheels and keep back from curbs. Replace them with 275/35's when they are worn out.

255's on a 8.5 rim should be perfect with fitment, now 255 on a 10 in rim will have a lot of stretch I wouldn't recommend running that setup. this picture I found on another forum is a 255 on a 20x8.5 rim

Scrat do you know if that Grabber Orange car has 255/40?

Looks like it fits better than I thought.

Although you may be able to get by with 255 size tires on 10" rims, they are recommended up to 8.5" rims maximum by the manufacturers for a reason..

In my research, 255 was minimum and 265 or 275 was "ideal" for a 10" rim.

Damn it! I was leaning towards 8.5 but now it doesn't look too bad on your car for a 10"! lol first work problems....

I had originally wanted a staggered set up, but when AM had that sale on these wheels (19x10 only), I couldn't pass it up and I love how they turned out. It also gives me the option to go with the same tire size if I want to start rotating them.

Man those look sweet, Bujeezus. I still have my Super Sports and wheels in boxes until I finish my house move. Eyeballing your sig pic, is that a 275/40/19 in the back?

You are correct sir. I wish I had gone with a 285/35 as it's a bit too tall overall. I was running 255/45-18 at @ 27" tall and the 275s are @ 27.7". A 285 runs @ 26.9" which woulda been perfect.

RIP - You will be missed
I'll suggest the 10" wides as well. Tire mfr max-recommended fitments do turn in better and corner more precisely, which you might get spoiled by.

In any event, you can always move up to 265/xx or 275/xx the next time without getting involved with buying yet another pair of wheels.
