Does anyone know the gap measurement for the harmonic balancer and timing cover?

Like the clearance?

How do you know the HB is fully seated on the crankshafts snout?

Pull the bolt back out. Is the lip of the HB flush with the end of the crank? Because that's as far as it can go.

Would this also be the case with an aftermarket HB?

My ATI pulley is. I use a ARP crank bolt, and it's never exceeded the torque spec rating while seating the pulley. I've always gone by that, but I do check for a flush seat before I put the final torque to the bolt.

On the IW balancer I don't think it's supposed to be flush.

This is how mine sits right now (not my car) I then used their supplied longer bolt and torqued down to spec.

It's discussed here about the longer bolt needed for IW.

OK I emailed IW and they said that their balancers don't sit flush with the snout and their hub is thicker due to their design. As long as my belt alignment is ok that I should be good.

I have an IW 8 groove, it has roughly 1/8" gap between the block and pulley.

I say that's how mine sits right now as well but wouldn't call that 1/8, more of a 1/4?

I would think that if you laser aligned the other pulleys to it it would be fine.
