well if these cars weigh 3700lbs, i'm willing to bet a 12.6-12.8 is do able. My 03gt with exhaust and gears went 13.68@98mph at a da of 6500'. These cars have over 100hp more. should easily beat and 03 2v by a second.

Are you the same guys that believed the 2010 camaro SS was going to run 12.8 stock?

400 pounds only makes a .4 difference right? Well the 426 hp Camaro SS weighing at 3900 lbs only runs 13.3 @ 108 mph.

Ya...that's only 300 pounds more than the 2011 mustang GT.

So your saying the 2010 Camaro is 0.4 seconds slower than a stock LS1 Camaro, 0.4 slower than my CAI/Tune 2007 GT and 0.1 slower than a Showroom Stock 2005 Mustang (13.2 @ 104.2). Sorry but I dont buy it.

In the first place a 108 mph should be at least a 12.8 on a 1.8 and it should trap a lot higher than that in good air (Stock LS1 Z28's trapped as high as 109 mph). So it sounds like bad air with a crappy driver. I dont hang out at the LS1 sights so I dont know what the record is for a new Camaro but considering the LS3 Corvette runs 11's @ 120 mph I doubt its 13's @ 108 mph.

By your own reasoning of 0.10 per 100 lb (which I dont really agree with) with the 11.7 an LS3 Vette turns the Camaro should run a 12.4.

PS You do know we are talking about the ultimate potential of these cars stock and not an average pass in average air by an average driver correct?

Vapor Trails, I suspect you made the error of depending on an online calculator.
Consider the following rwhp figures from these calculators.

2007 Mustang GT w/ CAI and Mailorder Tune.
330* bhp or 290* rwhp (Estimate. Its never been dynoed))
3700 lb (280 lb Driver)
DA -71' ASL / 106.6 mph / 350 rwhp
DA -1500' ASL / 108.1 mph / 365 rwhp

I dont know about you but I seriously doubt my CAI/Tune car has ever made 365 rwhp.

How many mph do you think a 82 bhp gain is good for? My moneys on 7 mph.

No, I didn't use an online calculator. Experience tells me it's not happening. If you look at the ET list, cars trapping 115 mph or higher than significantly better power to weight ratios than the 2011. The car gains significant HP, but also 150 pounds.

Ah, I thought you were just talking about what me or you would run on an average day.

A little research shows the 2010 SS running 13.0 @ 108 from Motortrend. But from real life experience, I've never seen a bone stock SS running faster than 13.5 and I've even seen cams/long tubes/exhaust/gear/sticky tire SS running 12.6 at best.

thats a STOCK motor with bolt-ons @3850lbs. the yellow one at the track sunday had an air-intake only, auto. its been 12.8s with no-tune. i ran 12.8s@111 with an airlid only 99 z28 6speed, it made 313 to the wheels @3600lbs. stock radials, etc. if the these cars make 310-315 to the wheels stock, @3700lbs they should run well into the 12s@ 110+ in stock form.
but.....until we actually get the finishd product out, its all speculation. im jusgt wondering if theres gonna be much "gain" with bolt-ons with these cars.

btw, that stick car is legit, he lives in denham, ive known him a long time. he can drive his nutzz off.

We will just have to agree to disagree. I know I am not going to convince you that Im right but I will show you why I think this possible under the right conditions so you dont think Im totally nuts!.

Its actually 120 lb comparing Ford Official Curb Weights of a base 2007 GT Deluxe to a base 2011 GT. 3483 lb vs 3603 lb.
However since you wanted to base it on power to weight I thought I would do the math on my car and one of the fastest stock LS3 Corvettes I know of.

7.6 lb/hp
Corvette 3300 lb (150 lb driver)
LS3 Z51 436 bhp
3.42 Rear Axle and 2.97 trans
Stock Tires
11.71 @ 119.9 mph

11.2 lb/hp
Mustang 3700 lb (280 lb Driver) w/ Spoiler
4.6 3V CAI/Tune 330 bhp
3.55 and 3.38 trans
Stock Tires
12.91 @ 108.1 mph

9.0 lb/hp
Mustang 3700 lb (165 lb driver) Spoiler Delete.
5.0L 4V 412 bhp
3.55 and 3.66 trans
Stock Tires

Based on the other two cars power to weight and performance the 2011 Mustang GT would run 12.18 @ 115.3 mph.
However Im going to stick to 12.49 @ 115.0 because of the relatively small tires per bhp.

Disclaimer: All of these cars would have exceptional air, exceptional track prep and an exceptional driver (Except for the 3V who lucked out!) to perform like this.
I suspect they would all be making at least 10% over rated power on a pass like this.

Luckily a local track gives me 2 out of 3 in the winter. Im working on the driver issue.

Please note I never said this would be normal. I said possible when all the stars align.

Did it break 12's Sunday? I noticed the brand new white with black strips one was running mid to low 13's. The most fustrating thing about stock is that weather impacts the tune so much and, the weather last Sunday wasn't nutten to write home about. My kid's took alot of video last Sunday. the best was my ooops first run breaken the shifter handle, lol.:asshat:

I can tell you one thing, this ol' salt didn't have the MIDAS touch last Sunday but it was fun.

I went to a local scale and with me + my car, I was at 3,630lbs. No spare tire or jack and that was with my turbo kit installed.

Weighed my car at the track tonight, pleasently surprised thought they were heavier.

Spare tire in the trunk + jack, little over a 1/4 tank of gas.

My Buddy just wieghed the 10 GT I just sold him. half a tank in the car it wieghed 3480. I'm positive that a 5.0 will be a bit heavier. I'm curious. I may have to hit the wiegh station today. :)

Are the 2011 gt convertibles not out yet? I haven't seen any weight numbers in the thread on them. Just curious
