Have to take car in Monday to dealer and drop off for a random misfire on cylinder 2. They pulled history and it showed it has done 31 times since I bought the car. It doesn't do all time and the check engine light will flash a few times then go off. No power loss or anything. They think it is one of a few things. Injector, spark plug, wire, or coil pack. They told me to drive it till then if blows up I get new engine.
they seen cold air and said that has nothing to do with it. It did before cold air and tune. I figured it was bad gas since times before I just filled up. Now it is getting more often. Specially when I get on it hard.

I have JLT and a tune. It did before either. They know it did before them as well.

No they don't care. They looked at history. Seen it was doing before tune and cold air. Said neither has to do with it.

2988 miles on car.

First time it did was 300 miles on car. Like mentioned chalked that up to bad gas.

My guess is injector. If you haven't done it yet, disconnect the negative terminal for 10 min and reconnect. Sounds nutty but I had an issue that seemed like a stuck injector on my car and resetting the PCM fixed it.

This is troubling... I am starting to believe their is something wrong with our motors/tunes

Hear me out. Not many people know but my motor ate a piston ring with 7048 niles on it. Number 8 was reading I believe 25% low or something, had to have the entire engine replaced at the dealer(not an easy task with mods, long long story). I was I believe, the FIRST guy to pop one of these motors

I had 500 stock miles, 5500 SCT only miles, and 1000 full exhaust/intake miles. My car dynoed at 425 to the tire.

Car would randomly throw a random misfire code maybe 2-5 times in 1-2 months, didnt think too much about it as the tune seemed safe as it was just a very mildly tweaked SCT basemap. My tuner had checked some datalogs and everything seemed fine.

At first I thought this was a very fluke incident... Manufacturing defect, bad injector, bad plug or whatever. But more and more people are reporting about throwing misfire codes. IDK if anybody will experience problems down the road as I had

I've had the code before as well.

I don't think there was a code when my piston went, but who knows

Were you boosted when the piston went? I blew 2/3 of the rings to pieces in mine, but I was NA

I was boosted, and to be honest, can't remember if i had seen the code before that. I think i did.

the other wierd thing that happened twice, and even before the first tune once. Was the transmission acting goofy.

I started the car, backed it up, put it in drive, and it was acting goofy as heck, and didn't want to move right.

Turned it off, restarted it, and it was fine. Definatey something in the electronics I believe

I threw the first random misfire when I was fooling around with a cammed LS1. Car was WAY down on power, and I didnt notice the code till it was too late. The car then ran fine for 1 month, where it did the same thing. 2 weeks later my car puffed blue smoke like crazy and had to tow it to the dealer

I am just starting to believe something is up with these motors man... Or it might be a hidden flaw in the SCT software? I am not trying to put the blame on any tuners out there, just stating the facts

Oh, and as a side note. When I had the mods reinstalled on the new motor, and had it retuned my tuner looked deep into the SCT basemap. Did you guys know that there is a parameter called "Piston Protection" and SCT turns that off. Could be nothing, but my tuner went and turned that back on on this tune as well as take a bit of timing out. I'll sacrifice 9whp for reassurance that I won't blow my 2nd motor up

That is interesting. Who is your tuner if you don't mind me asking?

Start eliminating the issues that may cause it.
Plug first as that's the most likely cause.

He eliminated all the factors added to the car since stock and still has the issue.

Agree let the dealer do their warranty magic.

Mine will throw a random misfire code if I let it ride for any more than 10 seconds at 5k plus rpm when the engine is not under a load. The procharger is bypassing boost and it will throw the code and go into limp mode.
