That is the route I will probably end up going with if I ever want to switch out the 4.10's! Awesome pics as always!

Gear setup isn't that hard...

Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk

yes, but after 3 sets it still whined. I will go back in his other thread and see if I can pull the info

From his other thread:
"They are going to correct something I tried having done Locally.
And I have had it done here many times in the past by same Fellow & Shop.
This time it has just went to Crap !!!

Bottom-Line is this.

I had the Ford Racing 4.10 gears removed to install Ford Racing 3.73 gears.

Every New Set made Noise.
(All 3-Sets)

And after the last set I decided to order a Complete New GT-500 Rear-End-Assembly.

I had it {Drop-Shipped} from Ford to BRENSPEED."

It's not just about a new set of gears, you get a completely new assembly, all new internals, frpp diff cover, painted housing, fully assembled with a warranty for only $1300.

Having gears alone installed is going to cost $450-500.

Or if you're like me, you have some bmr relocation brackets, that are bent, welded on lol.

After I clicked the link to tiger's thread, honestly......I spent most of it counting the number of thumbs up in the pictures. Due to this and laziness......i'll settle on the cliff notes......a GT500 rear end to end gear whine and to have a fresh rear end. I wish I had the money to blow like that, I'm glad my shop didn't charge me for the extra hours needed for the multiple attempts to uninstall and reinstall my 3.73s to get no whine. $400 flat for the install and no problems after a year. (Like I said I don't know if Brenspeed did or not, just saying)

But seriously. Nice stuff.

Feeling fresh again is fine, but no need to replace that WHOLE good rear end with the same thing but newer, plus still got those clutch packs in there :mad2:

Love looking at all the pics. Congrats on the new rear tiger, lol.

Thanks

congrats! Brenspeed is so clean lol

It is a very clean Shop and it stays like that.

GT500 rear end? what's the difference?

http://www.americanmuscle.com/frpp-svt-rear-assembly-0512.html

Product Features

  • Original equipment on Shelby GT500
  • Genuine Ford Racing Part
  • Fully assembled
  • Direct bolt-on upgrade
  • Includes 3.73 8.8" gears, Traction-Lok differential and 31 spline axles
  • Fits 2005-2012 GT, Bullitt, Shelby GT500

black paint and diff cover :D the SVT version comes with 3.73

Correct

Nice pics as always...but whats with the rear end silencers?

Ford has a known problem with gear Noise so they added those silencers to help eliminate it.
Hint, They actually might help but not that I can tell.
S197 Mustangs are known for Bad Rear-End-Gear noise.

IIRC he swapped gears 3 times but had gear whine everytime, so Tiger opted to just get the GT500 rear end...Maybe I'm wrong? Tiger, please correct me if I said misleading info.

Correct !!!

Hmmm bit extreme for some gear whine but OK lol

To each his own.

That is the route I will probably end up going with if I ever want to switch out the 4.10's! Awesome pics as always!

Thank-You

Brenspeed did not do the {3-sets of 3.73 gear installs} as I said already.
I do have the Money to Blow obviously.
But seriously. Nice stuff.
Thanks for that Compliment !!!

Thanks again for all the pictures Terry. As usual, you've made an interesting thread on work being done to your car!

Thanks Frank.
I did all the Pics. so others could see what all was really involved.

Another well documented mod Tiger. Great pics as usual. How many hours for them to swap the rear end?

Even though i have not been on this site long. It amazes me that a guy whos car run's 10's and obviously has done alot of mods . Is pretty well respected by reading posts from other members. Gives alot of good info so has done his research. Combined with the reputation of Brenspeed . Is being questioned on his choice on the best way to try and rectify a issue many guys are having.
Was going to add to this but I did not want to start any drama as Terry has handled it with a well placed " no comment"
