Some nice loot there John

Thanks James. I am going to get started soon. I am going to use the wife's car to practice polishing on and test some products. It's a lease that is going back in 3 months so if I screw it up who cares....haha

That's right! One of the keys I've learned is to resist rushing and have consistent arm speed when polishing...

Just a little restock. Took advantage of other errands having me near the local Chemical Guys shop (yes, I have a B&M shop to get that stuff at).

Glossworkz
Honeydew Snowfoam
Inner Clean

Trying out different soaps based on their suggestion. We'll see how they work out.

Sure thing. I've used some of their Mr. Pink and am just finishing a jug of Maxi Suds. I liked them well enough overall. Neither worked really great with the foam cannon--the suds didn't stick around long enough to complete the car. I probably use too much, but the Mr. Pink end up with a suds-slick in the gutter that takes a while to disperse.

I noticed that maxi suds doesnt like to be sprayed in a foam cannon. It barely foams and it almost instantly knocks down. I need something that will foam like crazy and actually takes dirt with it. I also gotta get a foam cannon.

This reminds me. I watched some videos the other night of AMMO NYC and the video was on Microfibers. Just out of curiosity, what pile do yall generally like best and how long do yall use them before yall downgrade them say from maybe a paint towel - wheel - wheel wells etc. Going by his video he seems to really like 350 pile for most everything he does. He just color coordinates and thats it. His reasoning is that he feels that is the best pile to get the most "grab" with and really lasts the longest. He also went through a wash process to make them last longer and get the most use out of them.

Yeah John. You and I are on the same page. I recently got a Porter Cable too. It is still in the box. Going to experiment on my beater pickup and DD before I go anywhere near the Mustang with that thing. Oh, and James has been a great help to me too.

I have been or practicing with it and all I can say is wow! What a difference. I did not realize that I have never before had a clean/shiny car... Lol. :buffer: Just the polish alone has made the clear coat look wet. Holy smokes does it take me a lot of time though. Lol

That's one of the differences between the Flex 3401 and PC - more power to correct faster and efficiently...

Gotcha

I think while I am learning the ropes the slower is better for me for now. Lol

Flex has forced rotation while the PC is dual action. As you may have noticed, if you have too much downward pressure, the pad will stop spinning. Built in safety mechanism so you its just about impossible to burn the clear coat with a PC DA.

Whereas the Flex is gear driven yet it still oscillates. No matter how much downward pressure the pad will still spin yet still randomly oscillates so the pad is not is one spot.

A rotary continuously spring in the same spot until you move it, generates a lot of heat and you can and will burn the clear coat...

Did you mark a line on the backing plate using a sharpie? This will help you visually see if the backing plate is actually spinning...
