Hey guys, I am going to start looking for a nice pressure washer to use for washing vehicles when I get back to Texas in less than two months.

I am wondering what ones, if any, y'all are using?

What would be the recommended HP and PSI?

Electric or gas?

Any particular features and brands I should look for?

Well I'm using a Clean Force Electric from Home Depot. It was around 100 with 1400 PSI. It is perfect for the car and small things around the house. Overall it does the job well but there is defiantly better.

If I was to buy one again I'd get one of these. I have heard nothing but good things about this brand.

The gas or electric is kind of based on what you want.

I have the greenworks one. I use it about 1/3 of the time when washing the cars. It's definitely useful to spray off the patios and driveway though.

I will be primarily using it for car washing but I would clean concrete floor and driveway.
Are the electrics loud at all?

I would say it's quieter then a gas. It only pumps when your pulling the trigger so it's not a constant sound, you won't wake your neighbors with it.

If you do get a PW I wpuld reccomend a foam cannon. This is a MTM I'd say it's the one of the best on the market. Amazon carries other brands that work just fine to cheaper. This guy also offers 10% off for another forum I'm on if your interested pm when your ready.

I have a 2700 psi 7.5 hp 2.5 GPM. It shoots the thickest foam from my MTM. Had an electric but took it back for a gas, just something about extension cords and water that I don't like. Gas won't short and shock you. I was never shocked, but unwilling to wait for it to happen.

I actually have a foam cannon already, which is part of the reason I want a PW. The one I have can be used with a hose or PW. I'll have to see what brand but it's pretty good.

What brand? True but I am tired of loud equipment for home use after dealing with aircraft all day, hence why I am wondering about electric.

What's the max pressure you would want to use on one? I want to get a gas powered one that I can use to clean my car and my concrete driveway. Are they usually pressure adjustable?

Sorry, never owned a pressure washer but figured I'd try to get one that can do both things.

Get a gas powered one and make sure it uses a pump that requires oil, the lesser style units won't old up, also most of them will calcify or whatever from water deposits eventually and clog the pump. The serviceable pumps don't suffer from this near as often.

You just change the nozzle or adjust how far away you are from what your cleaning. I use this, got it on sale for $69 few years back. Have used it to clean cars (works great with the foam cannon), driveway, house, windows, fence, deck essentially it does everything I need it to around the house. Has a really long cord and hose already which is nice. It's lite, quiet and easily portable, no complaints.

Any good quality pressure washer will have adjustable pressure on it. for mine, I also got an adjustable wand. It has 4 different spray nozzles so you can control pressure also.

All the ones I've seen are full pressure on and full pressure off. Nothing in between :(. I have a gas powered one from Walmart. The first pressure washer I bought from them didn't last 3 months, the second one has lasted over a year and a half so far :). I just use mine to wet and rinse my vehicles. I still use a bucket and mitt to wash. The pressure washer rinses so much faster than a garden hose. I don't get real close to the paint, no closer than a foot and a half. I do get close to clean my concrete sidewalk.

Mine did come with 3 different tips. One for applying soap, one for vinyl siding and one for concrete. I use the tip for vinyl, around a foot and a half away from the paint to wet and rinse my vehicles :)

Mine is the cheapest gas powered power washer made :(

And that does not work properly for you?
