Replaced the broken TB connector on the wife's Shelby with a new Motorcraft pigtail, and now getting ready to take it on a cruise with the wife :)

That looks good Gabe. I had to pickup some 3M tape to put the door sills back on from when I ran the batt in the back.

Why do chambered mufflers have to drone so much? These things sound fucking fantastic. When I had them on the car before I had mid-mounted Magnaflows and they apparently killed a lot of the sound. The Magnaflows are gone and these things sound badass. But god damn, around 2000 RPM the resonance inside is not pleasant.

I always found chambered mufflers to drone the least.

The new TB connector w/pigtail looks awesome Gabe. In the meantime, enjoy the cruise :waytogo:

That's weird, it's usually straight-thru mufflers that are more prone to droning than chambered mufflers. Are you also running O/R or catted mid-pipe? Also, consider mid-mounting your chambered mufflers with either high-flow cats or O/R

Yeah, same here.

Yeah, same here.

I have a catted H pipe. So far on this car the chambered mufflers have seemed to drone the most, the straight through FRPP (Borla) Touring mufflers I have have droned the least. As I said in a previous post, when I originally had these mufflers on the car, I had Magnaflows mid-mounted, but I felt like it made them too quiet and the resonance was still there. I dunno, I'll have to drive with them a bit longer and see if they break in a little and get any better.

With all the talk of bump stop relocation kits and seeing whats on the market that causes a loss in travel from it's implementation along with only moving the bump stops inboard, I worked up my own kit from 1/8" flat stock and weld-in studs. Took about four hours from mock-up to completion. The 1/8" flat stock welds to the existing bump stop perch and to the spring perch, five 1/4" weld beads along the mating surfaces is plenty strong. The stud gets welded to the spring perch. The pattern for the flat stock is the same for both sides of the axle, mirrored obviously. The stud has plenty of clearance to OEM style springs as well.

The new location is forward and inboard to align with the frame notch...

No added height to the bump stop...

At ride height with roughly 1"+ between the bump stop and frame and sitting 1-3/4" lower than stock (3/4 tank of fuel).
Prior to relocating as well as shortening the bump stops, they were touching the frame in the original location.

So which mufflers are you running now, what brand? if the drone is unbearable? consider mid-mounting them just as you did with your Magnaflows, but don't run a mid-mounted setup together with axle back mufflers, as this will definitely make the exhaust note too quiet

Current AB is Edelbrock SDT (Sound Deflection Technology, I don't know if they even make them anymore), basically a 3-chamber flowmaster so there's no way they could be mid-mounted. It's not unbearable, just annoying.

Unfortunately, I'm not really familiar with the Edelbrock mufflers nor their SDT 3 chamber design for that matter. You would think however if they're designed to deflect sound, they shouldn't drone especially when used with the factory catted H pipe still in place or even with an aftermarket catted H? At any rate, I'd consider giving the folks over at Edelbrock tech support a phone call and let them know about the drone issues you've been having. Perhaps they can assist in troubleshooting and possibly come up with a solution? I'd at least recommend giving that a shot, as they might even be defective

Get Varex Xforce mufflers. Sounds good, no drone what so ever and can go from quiet to loud at push of a button!

I have them with long tubes and catless h-pipe with a supercharger.

Get no trumpeting or drone. Only time I keep it closed is when I to cold starts in my garage.

I like the idea of those but don't really want to spend $800 on an axle back.

I just want to hear a better clip other then the piss poor YouTube videos I found of them. Headers O/R H magna flow with side pipes equals loud and nasty drone. Something mid mounted like this may work! Price though.

I have ARHs O/R H with the GT500 style axle backs and no drone. My friend had the Corsa Xtreme axle backs with stock exhaust and no drone. I was thinking of maybe changing to them. Mine seems to be getting louder as time goes on but not really bad.

I looked at the Corsa's but mid mount them with the Cervinis side exhaust I not sure they will fit. I would like to try something other then the resonator or straight through race pipe.
