As for back pain, I know all about that crap. A few years of wearing 96 pounds of body armor and ammo gifted me with that. I find though that the more I use my back and stay active with it the better it is for me.

I had the same issues in Star Fleet

I wouldn't go anything farther than .012" even with a transbrake. Without a 'brake .008" is far enough.

yea 8 is what I had been told. I just read a nice write up on MV and the big bore block that I'm planning on running. They did a nice job on that.

Just had my 64th birthday on the 6th.

Earl
thats awesome. i just celebrated my 20th. people constantly tell me that i waste money on my car, as it is a hobby that i will grow out of.

evidence seems to point a different direction. i am still as fond of modding my car as ever. i am constantly meeting people much older than me, who are building cars. it is just nuts. i love everything about cars and enthusiasts. i love the nod you get from someone in another mustang. i love the quick try on the road. i love going to the track. i love turning heads. i love working on cars. i love showing up to car meets, and its just a bunch of dudes talking shit to each other, regardless of how fast the other cars are. no one means anything by it, its just fun.

as the car, and i, continue to age, every morning when i turn over my engine, and head to work, it puts a smile on my face. when i walk away from my car, i still turn and look at it. i hate leaving it unattended, and i hate when it's dirty.

this morning is the first time i saw this thread, and i read through all 8 pages. very informative. i look forward to finding out where my build takes me (as i slowly continue it)

Earl, i hope you had a great birthday. i hope that when i turn 64, i have a nicely modded car to show. i hope that i still change my own oil every time.

GIJOE, i wish you luck on the car, and i look forward to reading more about it.

I became more focused on one hobby. Over the years I dropped, hunting, fishing, and golf. This is all I really love to do...

Well I have some updates.
Block is gonna be OK for a 30 over bore. I'll be selling it as I'll be going big bore

I had over looked this: Actually I had seen it and thought it was that way on initial install but I went back and looked at some old pics...This "O" ring special" is cut in the back of pumps by MMR ( and now JDM) to allow the pump to increase the pressure by preventing oil from blowing by this blocking plate that has a pre determined amount of blowby regulating pressre. The "O" ring prevents that and raises pressure.
I now kow why my oil pressure took the big dump at idle but still worked at WOT for a long time...This "O" ring grovve was cut off centered and the thin wall side of it broke off allowing huge oil pressure drop. Possible the piece of metal found its way to the pump gears...but for sure it was hurting the bearings at idle with low oil pressure....I def had moly lost off 5 ring sets so that contibuted too. The tuner here in "BAMA" gets credit for that shit without a doubt, and MMR gets credit for the shotty work on the pump.....the rest is history guys.....
The last pic shows how the pump should look.
The rest of the pics show how it looked when it came off. You can see the off set cut and the thin wall and where the piece blew out.
