Yes, broke a rod and windowed the block. I picked up a 22K mile ‘17 GEN2 F150 engine and swapped everything over but left the GEN2 exhaust cams because they have an additional 1mm of lift. Didn’t see the harm and many have done the same thing...just can’t use F150 exhaust cams. It’s all buttoned...
I even went back and found some of the articles and YouTube videos I watched. In hindsight they don’t say you can use GEN2 F150 exhaust cams, they just say “GEN2 exhaust cams” so really it’s all my fault for not doing more research.
Definitely could have been worse that’s for sure. I was beginning to think there was something wrong with the bottom end so I’m glad that ended up not being the case.
Yes. I did a bunch of research and found several sites and even YouTube videos that had GEN2 engines with GEN1 intake cams (because of the timing components) and using GEN2 exhaust cams so that was my plan. Unfortunately what I failed to learn was that the F150 GEN2’s have a different firing...
She’s alive and running on all 8!!! I was getting so frustrated!! Thank you everyone for the help and guidance. @RED09GT I couldn’t have done it without your help! Now I just need to finish everything else up (again) and I can take it for a rip.
I just confirmed the part numbers of the cams that are installed.

Holy shit! I did so much research on this too. Well, I guess it’s time to swap exhaust cams and then try it all over again. Thank you very much for the help and insight. I’ll update as soon as I get everything swapped over.
Let’s talk about this GEN2 F150 firing order...Everything I read said the GEN2 exhaust cams were interchangeable. I had to change to my GEN1 intake cams but could use the F150 GEN2 exhaust cams.
Engine and tune changed. The ProCharger is not going back on this car for the time being. The old...
Last night I tore the timing cover off and reset the timing. I had 2 other people double check the timing and we are all in agreement that it is in perfect time. I buttoned it up this morning and went to fire it up and have the same result. Running on a couple cylinders, next to no throttle...
I quadruple checked it, but it sure is looking that way. I’m going to pick up an adapter for my compression tester and check compression first then probably pull the front cover back off and check the timing. I’ll be so pissed if so got that wrong
I found a bunch of wiring diagrams online and I followed and traced all grounds and verified they are good. I'm at a loss of where to continue from here.
I swapped injectors and installed my old BOSS intake and got the same result. I also tested both sets of injectors by applying 12V to them while under fuel pressure and none leak, and they all had a good/even spray pattern. I didn't notice any difference between any of them. This leads me to...
I built the engine on a stand and then assembled the engine and trans out of the car, then mounted it to the K-Member and installed from the bottom. That went very smoothly and without any issues but it is certainly possible.
