Need help bringing back the finish

Washing and waxing is a great way of maintaining that finish where as doing a full on correction (compounding/polishing) will restore the finish. I would look to grabbing a clay bar and going to town with that first. Clay barring is probably one of the best things you can do to your car to keep...

    NXT Wax pics

Looks good everyone :thumb2: By the way, it may have been hard to remove the wax because it wasn't allowed to properly cure. If you don't let it it sit long enough and it is taken off early the wax can be very hard to remove. This can also happen if it sits on the paint for too long. The polish...

wheel wax / brake dust repellant

I don't think there is much in the way off keeping the break dust off unless you use different pads and what not. However you can use any sort of sealant or wax, although I think a nuba is not worth it due to limited longevity and it seems to attract more brake dust. I have black powdercoated...

    Removing Tree Sap?

Following along with previous posters, I suggest starting with a wash and working your way down the line this way: Wash Stoners Tarminator/Surf City Garage Road Grime (the best imo for this stuff) Clay w/ Clay Magic blue/red or Megs Pro Detail Clay (something a bit more aggresive then megs...

    12V Car Vacs

+1 mustang3life, good point. I actually keep a couple quarters around so I can just pull into a gas station and do it whenever I get gas. If its a dd or what not and you fill up once a week like me and keep it fairly clean 50cents is all you need and your good to go. By the way I don't have...

Ok, i'm a pro-DIY'er but this just looks like a PITA..

Ha, well with how much has peeled off on the buttons I might rather go with the feel around method. I already have to turn down the lights inside because its just too bright :thud: I just figured that if I do replace it with another one, I would go ahead and do it while its out and what not. I...

Ok, i'm a pro-DIY'er but this just looks like a PITA..

I wanted to do this but I spilled some degreaser a couple months back when I was cleaning the inside and it peeled off all the black on the buttons. I am thinking of just buying another OEM one and while it is out and trying this. Found it for 116 on ebay so I might give it a whirl. The only...

    Porter Cable 7424 XP

Like everyone said clay barring is one of the best things to do. It might seem too take awhile but that can be based on the clay used and what not. Most of the time when you clay bar for the first time it can take awhile and what not but that is because of the amount of contaminants present. The...

    Liquid Wax vs Paste Wax

It depends, I do a good full detail and paint correction on my own every six months or so. It normally takes two days includes taking all the wheels off, cleaning the engine bay, doing a 3-4 step polish, sealing, waxing, glazing and what not. I normally wash 2-3 times a week along with quick...

    Liquid Wax vs Paste Wax

Ha I am on the other side of the fence skeeter. I always like working with the paste more. I think its easier to use then most the other stuff but that is how I am.

    How bad is this?

+1, I have had a couple mishaps as such and feel your pain. Now i color coordinate my rags/micros and what not and everyone of my bottles is sorted and properly labeled along with color highlights. Gets hard to remember everything when you got 30 unlabeled bottles (ha.)

    Liquid Wax vs Paste Wax

To start (heh): Most liquid style waxes you find are more sealants than carnuabas, and have the benefits of being cheap and also very durable. On the other hand, most carnuabas come in a paste form and are normally pricey (depending on frame of refernence) and offer far less durability. However...
