I went and saw Hitman's Bodyguard over the weekend. I liked it. Had some good laughs. Only bad part is that I saw it at a theater here in China and the foreign language used was translated to Chinese instead of English so I couldn't understand some lines.

Went and saw IT over the weekend. I have mixed feelings on the movie. The original one from the 90s, I find very creepy and well scary. (also could be bc I was very young when I saw it lol and clowns creep me out).

So after hearing how well made IT was, how well acted and just that it was one of the best horror movies made lately I had to check it out.

It was well made, and I thought it was very well acted. But, I don't know if I had to high of expectations, but overall I thought the movie was just so so. Parts of the movie felt rushed, while others seemed to drag on. There were plenty of scenes that had a great scare factor, and some really creepy scenes but relied to much on jump scares.

Perhaps my biggest problem was with the way the portrayed Pennywise (IT). IMO they tried to make the clown to creepy all the time. His appearance throughout the whole movie looked like a creepy clown. I think what made the original clown creepier, is that he looked like a regular clown. Now at the same time though the actor who played Pennywise did some really great stuff in some scenes that were just flat out spooky.

So overall very mixed feelings on IT. Parts of it were done very well, other parts not so much. Liked and disliked the portrayal of Pennywise at the same time lol. If you like horror flicks, or Stephen King I would check it out.

I heard a similar review that made me think maybe I'll wait until it comes out on DVD or streaming services to see it. The thing about the jump scares seems to be a common factor that many people talked about, and I have never been a fan of those because I think it often mars the overall plot

Went to see the new Kingsmen movie and was disapointed. The first one was was crazy but it was still fun and somewhat logical. This new one is just way over the top, unbelievable and although it has a few good lines in it, I just didn't enjoy it.

The more I think about the movie the more mixed my response is. Some of the jump scares were great, others you knew that was going to be the only pay off. Overall it just didn't have the creepyness of the original. Which I will say is probably bc I saw it when I was younger. But the thing that I think affects the creepy factor the most is still the design of Pennywise. His "normal" appearance is to much like a creepy clown, which takes away the creepyness. It's almost like they tried to make him look to scary all the time. The original pennywise looked like a normal clown which made it creepier to me IMO.

Isn't that the point of Kingsmen though is that it's supposed to be extremely over the top? I still need to see the first one, I have heard good things.

I still want to check out American Assassin, thought that one looked pretty good.

Saw the new Thor last night. I really enjoyed it. I'd still like to see the new Kingsmen.

I liked the Thor movie too. Sat through the credits for both after credit clips.

Saw Thor tonight, great, loved it.
Don't bother waiting for the second extra clip after ALL the credits, it's nothing and certainly not funny.
First extra clip though ........ interesting. :)

Ah saw Thor last weekend and didn't wait for the credits. I didn't see part 2 so it felt like I missed part of the story. It was an ok movie for me but I don't seem to like the Thor ones as much as other people seem to do.

The wife and I were debating on starting the Punisher over the weekend or another Netflix series called Slasher. Decided on Slasher and so far 3 episodes in its pretty good.

Anybody catch Justice League? I see its been getting trash reviews

I've watched 5 episodes of The Punisher series and I am not impressed. I keep waiting for it to get better but it just stays with the same old "bad government agents" type story line.

I thought that was kind of the whole premise of season 1 from what the previews led me to believe.

I want to see both Thor and The Justice League. I heard The Justice League was the best DC movie since the Batman series.

I really can't see how DC can do reasonably well on the small screen but it up so badly on the big screen (IMO Flash was dreadful - quite possibly one of the worst performances I've seen recently).

There are 2 post/mid credits scenes

I haven't heard much good about Justice League. A guy at work saw it and said he liked it. I might wait for Redbox for this one.
