Lost my avatar and sig pic...

Oh well, the price of "progress". :(

Just 'cause ya can doesn't necessarily mean you should.

It was a need. vB is trash now and it was only a matter of time before something bad happened to the forum due to the outdated software. I wasn't moving up to the latest vB as that is trash to. So, this was really needed.

xenforo or whatever is a lot easier to manage than a lot of other forum softwares, so I understand the switch. Mostly I'm sad because all of this info will be gone some time... I should write up a 4.6 3V digest, I guess. I have a lot of good info in a spreadsheet already. Maybe I'll put it on a geocities site!!

What info will be gone? I don't understand your post.

Shit I thought it was just my computer at first, but this is for real, WTF! I can't even get past the front page using Firefox, I had to switch to Chrome to even be able to log in!

You just have to recache your browser as it did the same for me and after hitting F5 and/or just typing in www.s197forum.com/forum, it worked for me.

Okay that worked, I'm back on Firefox. As stated above this will take some getting used to. I guess my biggest gripe now is related to subscribing to threads, I used to just click on UserCP to see any posts since my previous login to get caught up, I don't see a way to do that now?

I didn't use a lot of the features on the old board because they weren't as obvious to me. I will say with this software the interface is easier once you get used to moving around and I like the way PMs look like a thread in your CP, the Alert function is nice too.

weirdly I get the initial homescreen - but then nothing doesn't seem linked to anything

Exclusively on tapatalk, works exactly the same now as it did before.

Either way, beats the new-fangelled social media alternatives.

Forums inevitably die, esp. ones like this where you're focused on one generation of vehicle. The fnsweet example is my favorite, was a very highly travelled site for roush cars, esp. the early supercharged 3v's. So much tech. All gone.

Another example of a Mustang Internet Site limited to very specific models.
www.IMBOC.com
That's an internet site dedicated to ONLY the 2001-2008-2009 Bullitt Mustangs.
It is like a cemetery and has been that way for something like two years or more now.

I'm almost used to the new site, but why is there such a big space between my post and sig pic?

I just noticed something nice. When an ignored member posts, you don't even see his name. Just a link to click to view ignored content. And if you hover over the link it shows the name of the ignored person.

Cool, didn't know that.

What did the owner do to kill fnsweet? Is it still up or shit down. On my phone so don't want to look it up right now.

fnsweet died after the owner rushed into a forum update without researching exactly what he was updating to, and didn't bother backing up the info before starting. He updated the forum to some fucked up mobile version of vBulletin with limited functionality. Many links and features we were all used to simply did not exist any more. Most of the forum history was gone also. I forgot the details, mostly because the asshole banned me after I kept posting questions about why he fucked up the forum so badly. He kept insisting it was fine and the problems simply did not exist.
