I had the Saleen Series VI Supercharger and full suspension installed at the saleen plant in Orange county in 2006, and added a Techco watts link, and a lot of other suspension, Chassis stiffening, exhaust and brake, and weight loss upgrades long ago. These improvements were much cheaper and reasonable back in 2006, 07 & 08. So my car is still in excellent condition, is very fast with 550 HP(12 lb custom tune), and handles fantastically. Until Ford comes up with a truly lighter Mustang that has a near 50/50 weight ration and is designed with true handling improvements in the GT500, I have no interest in buying a new one. The current GT350 is great, but too pricy. Erik

I am Keeping my 07 because I love the old school look it has. Yeah it may only have the 4.6 but it is still bad and I have a lot of room to keep building horse power in her. I have been converting her over to the Terlingua look and I still have some things to do. I still drive her daily and she still puts a smile on my face when I look out my window and see her in the drive. Yes that is Cherilyn Westrich from Overhaulin with me in the third pic.19247881_1719898988024439_4028965721541586968_n.jpg 22279530_1664369430263217_197858952530670080_n.jpg 22730326_966719456812217_8205798783391387546_n.jpg 22780417_966719433478886_4658776085887895693_n.jpg

I would love to get a new car!!! Like the Challeger Hellcat or the Demon!! Or maybe just a new Mustang... Hell maybe even a Corvette!! Seems like most modded Mustang guys are getting Corvettes or Vipers these days.

Anyway, if it wasn't because I spent over $85K on my S197, I would be driving a newer car/Mustang... But I am stuck with my S197...the best I could sell it for would be maybe $25K. Would hurt so much to give it away after all the money, hours, tears, stress, and blood I put into that car.

So, I am stuck with my S197 till death do us part....or some act of nature takes her out and I cash in on the insurance... lol
But I do have to admit, I love the body style and I still get people giving me thumbs up and wanting to talk about the car. It's still one pretty fast car...just lacks the finesse of the new ones.

yeah... but alex (puke) and bob both have their own agendas. I just watch the videos of the cars apparently driving themselves and the accident reports, which as far as I know aren't fake. They're doing much better than human drivers, what more do you want?

When Ford introduced the S197 Mustang in 2005 I immediately fell in love with the car. In October 2013 I was finally able to purchase a 2006 Mustang GT Premium, Torch Red with Leather Interior.

Since then I have added a number of interior and engine dress up items. The dealer that sold the car had switched out the stock 18" wheels for 19" GT wheels off of a 2010 Mustang GT.

At 70 years old and retired I finally have the Mustang I've always wanted with that nice combination of performance and luxury. The car was paid off when I bought it so I have no car payments and am not interested in having anymore car payments for a long time. I only drive the car around 4,200 miles a year, mostly in the spring, summer and fall.

And while it would be nice to own a newer, more powerful Mustang, I'm perfectly happy with what I now have.Carolyn's Croftgate Detail 2015 002.JPG

I'm not sticking with my mustang.

I bought because i wanted to learn to autox a high powered RWD car (previous was a Ford Focus on slicks).
Its been 2 years, I'm consistently in the top 3 PAX at every event I enter, so I think I've learned what I wanted to.

next year I'll be racing a lightly modded scion FRS in the new spec class SCC.

i will miss the hp, but i think I prefer smaller cars anyways.

Hi Gerald. What happened to your last eng rebuild ? Is it holding up. Did you ever figure out why it was going through oil like crazy ?
Did you do any other mods in the last 2 yrs?

Man, that thing is clean.

Thank you eighty6gt! It didn't look like this when I bought it from a local dealer in October 2013. The paint was faded, the engine had never been cleaned and was dirty and grimy and the leather interior was dull and dry.

One of my friends in the Mustang Club of Maryland let me use their heated garage where I washed the car, clay barred the car, machine polished the paint and got rid of the scratches and other imperfections and machine waxed the car. All of this was done using Griot's Garage Products. I used their "leather restorer" to nourish and soften the leather seats.

This car had 147,500 miles on it when I purchased it and today is close to 165,000 miles. The Red Baron has won numerous trophies and awards at various car shows including being a Top 40 Winner at the Red Mustang Club Car Show held at Carlisle, PA during the Ford Nationals. Last year we had 140 cars participate in that show and everyone is worthy of winning a trophy!

The engine is stock except for some engine dress up items, new MSD Coil Packs and a K&N filter is the stock airbox.

Here's a photo of the engine.DSC_4137.JPG CSC_4434.JPG DSC_4135.JPG DSC_4141.JPG DSC_2923.JPG

No. That would completely take away the essence of the FR-S, which is superb handling. I daily drove a 13 FR-S for over a year. They are REALLY good cars. Replacing the flat four with a V8 would just basically convert it into a pseudo muscle car with a completely mismatched suspension, steering, wheels, brakes, etc.

RB, I thought the car had 10000 miles on it and that you had bought it new! Nice work.

I have all of the polishing stuff for my car, will be doing that next spring. It's been mine its entire life, but it's going to be 10 next year.. hard to believe.. still looks great, this will just take it up a level. It's black!

RB, I see from the images you posted that your interior has the red door inserts which is part of the interior upgrade package.. However what I don't quite understand is your car should also have red leather seats and red floor mats that are also included with the package.. Therefore just thought I'd ask if by any chance either yourself or the previous owner for some reason swapped out the red leather seats in favor of black leather seats that were not included as an option as part of the interior upgrade package thru Ford

The Red Suede Door Inserts were added last year as the original stock perforated vinyl door inserts kept peeling off the doors.
I had a professional upholsterer upgrade the cheap, peeling, stock door inserts with a set of custom made padded suede door inserts. These are held in place with a glued in bead.
The upholsterer took off the door panels and took them to his shop to add the red inserts and then came back in a few days to reinstall the door panels back on the car. For the first month or so the smell of the suede was intoxicating!
It is even more impressive seeing this in person and I have already referred a number of S197 owners to upgrade their door inserts and have other upholstery work done by this gentleman.
Here are some more pictures of the completed project. I went with the red door inserts to break up the all black look of the interior. It is a very nice upgrade and people comment on it all of the time.DSC_2908.JPG DSC_2908.JPG DSC_2909.JPG DSC_2910.JPG DSC_2910.JPG DSC_2917.JPG DSC_2917.JPG DSC_2920.JPG

Thanks for following up as I had no idea you had the inserts replaced lol. Anyhow your upholsterer did such an outstanding job and thought they were the stock inserts from the images you posted.. At any rate, also count me in as being another owner who would be interested in the upgrade as well :waytogo:
