I've heard that the Steeda Triax shifter is the better choice for the Magnum's....yes, better than the MGW....hard to think possible since I love my MGW on the MT82....but the Magnum is a totally different beast.
"better than MGW" is that even a thing!? :roflmao:
I will do some research, the ease of changing gears is growing on me a bit.
I'm coming from a hurst billet so the throw to me is a bit long.

Isn't the shifter that comes with really good? Any pictures of it?

I loved the shifter on my T56 and I had an MGW on the 3650. I also have an MGW on my current car. The T56 has a direct shifter so no need for an aftermarket.

It's just a stick but yes it feels good and the shifts are pretty crisp.

I need to use it on the track, the lesser effort might prove to be a plus, kind of miss the CLICK CLICK shifting of a super short stroke but may not be a positive on the track.

I have no plans on swapping out the stock magnum xl shifter. It works very well. I miss positive shift stops a little, but not enough to change it.

Lito's tune will eliminate the need for non-foulers on the rear o2s, and have them go ready for emissions. I read someone else mention it and I can attest to that as well.

I just changed to the Triax shifter when mine went in. So I dont know what the stock shifter is like, but Triax works great.

Did you go with a single disk or twin disk clutch and what did you use. I have the RST twin with there flywheel.

I will check out Lito if I go to a serious cam one day, he is the man! for now I use an emmision tune with the 02's on and the non foulers do the trick, then back my race tune for 2 years. :D

I hear that is a good one as well! I have a single disc. I had purchased an exedy mach 400 in preparation to swap my clutch last year.
I called up exedy and was able to get a part number for the same clutch disc but in 26 spline.
Next go around I will upgrade to a McCleod. Seems quite a bit notchy getting into first/reverse from a stop like the disc is a bit fat... but I will wait to put some miles on it and see if it lessens.

Warning to future magnum mofo's, some SFI bell housings fit not so nice and the starter is smashed against the flywheel so it's loud as fuck and grinds. I had an issue yesterday where the car wouldn't start because the gear couldn't squeeze it's way in to mesh so it would just smack against the flywheel and screech.

Le solution... drill out the outside holes so you can pivot around the center and loosen the mesh up.

Nice and quiet reliable starting!

I remember having to loosen the starter and wiggle it around to get it centered before tightening it down again. It is not a machined fit, lots of slop in the bolt holes.

I did the same, even held a crowbar pushing it outwards while I tightened the bolts and it still ground against the flywheel.
It was only when I opened the holes up did it get nice and quiet and contacted every time.

Isn't that the locating feature all the way around, inboard of the bolt holes? Possibly not with the blowproof.

Do you mean the circle in the middle?
If so there is some room between that circle and the circle cut into the separator plate/bell housing.
So it can wiggle.
