Haven't heard anything about the Mustang 5.0 firing order being changed. And doubt it will.

My opinion below.. lol

Three things judge exhaust note. Firing order, stroke and displacement. Yes there are other minor factors, but anyone can tell the sound an old school 302 blindfolded.

The old school 302 and the 4.6 3v have the same firing order so the 3v will sound pretty much like what we old timers remember as fords signature sound.
The coyote is a different beast. Different firing order so different sound. I still love the 5.0, it's a nasty bastard! Lol

Anyway, look at Ferrari and Lambos for example. Very short stroke so they make power like the crotch rockets and rev like mofos... couple that to an 8 or 10 speed trans and you have some competition and a sound that's unmistakable..

Id like to see a non ho and ho 302 side by side with the same exhausts in the same year/generation of mustang. Crown vics and f150s used the non ho (LoPo) 302 but the sound would be apples to oranges since the exhausts are set up differently. Also the non ho used in these vehicles use a flat tappet cam unlike the ho roller cam. Just thinking out loud.

It would be nice to know exactly why these do in fact sound different. Its easy to see why the 3v and sn95 2v/4v sound different because of the differences in exhaust configuration but the 3v and coyote have a very similar setup yet dont sound the same.

Have you heard a GT350 with 4 into 1 headers?

There's a video of it somewhere.
