... on my DD. Two reasons. $700 a year and the occasional monsoon. I live in the desert so it only rains a few times a year but those days get really treacherous. I don't want to buy tires every year like I have been because I'm trying to save for another project. I have a set of Hoosier QTP's that I use at the track. My big question is which tire I should be looking at? I was just pricing some 555 G2's but thought that somebody would be able to steer me in another direction with their experience. I do drive rather spirited and have about 460 ft lbs of torque. DR's have served me well but I'm looking at an alternate route and hope I won't be too disappointed with the traction aspect of a regular summer street tire.

I've run the 555R, NT05R, MT street radial and lately the MT SS's. The 555R was the least favorite but lasted the longest. The MT's offered the best traction but didn't last for squat in the mileage department. I know it's a trade off. I'm just wondering if anyone else has been in this dilemma and would want to share some insight on the best street tire for me. I think what it boils down to is getting the 555R's unless there is a regular street tire that can compare in the traction dept.

I have the G2's on my Cobra and hate them. I can usually spin through second and occasionally part way through third. I was looking at the R888R for my next set of tires.

Well G2's are off the list then.

The Toyo's look like they would really suck on a wet road. Plus I doubt they would make those tires with the sidewall that I need. I run a 305/45/18.

Michelin PSS or whatever the upgraded replacement is. I run MPSS on my Mustang and they grip like crazy. Great in the rain also.
x2, you basically need a super car grade tire to do what you're after.

I’ve had good luck just running the nt01s. Idk how much power your making but on my turbo set up making roughly 480whp I have no traction drama on the streets. You should be able to get at least 20k out of a set too. Rain is no issue also they still grip very well.

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500. They do well in the rain and hook great on dry pavement. I run 285s but can't claim 460 torque. Maybe 415 or so.

I ran those Firestones on my Bullitt for a while. They start out good but turn to shit quickly. I had one defect where the tread began separating within 4 months and had to fight the local store to get it replaced under warranty. By the time they were 9 months old they were all junk. Spend a couple dollars more on a good tire and it will last 2-3x as long.

The current version of those tires was released in 2016, long after your bullit was toast.
I am running these tires as well and my car went from "how much spin do you want?” in any gear on the bfg kdws's to actually having to use full throttle to spin it.

Check the reviews and tests on tire rack. These are the real deal and the price is awesome.

I'm glad you like them. Based on my personal experience with Firestone in general and that specific tire model in particular, I won't be trying out any more Firestone tires any time soon.

I hated my G2s too. They were pure trash, even on a basically stock 3V. I would recommend Continental DWs. I had their old design and they were great. The new design is supposed to be comparable to the Michelin Pilot Super Sports.

I don't think the Michelin's come even close to the size I need. Running a big tire in the back kinda limits my selection.

Thanks for all the replies. I will look into size availability in NT01's and Indy 500's.

Well NT01's nd the Indy 500 are out. Tire size issues.

Anyone running NT05's? Wondering if they will do better than the G2's? They have a 295/45/18 which is about the size I need. Would really like to run a 305 but it looks like I'll have to go a bit smaller if I go away from a DR.

Michelin makes the Pilot Sport in 285-40-18....I recently bought those and I'm really happy with them. Great traction for a street tire.

For reference, my car is Procharged with 500 whp.
